One of the chicks starting to get her pretty feathers. A canoe makes a pretty good planter box. We did end up pulling these corn however. The Grapes did way better than Kelly expected so they don’t have an arbor to grow on yet. The flowers of a mint plant. This is what an almond fruit looks like. We only had a few this summer.

We spent our day in Glenwood Springs, and the first part of it at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. Much bigger than a person, that took thousands and thousands of years to develop. Follow rockymountainsteve on WordPress.com. A barn swallow pair. What the heck is Wwoofing. A prickly pear cactus at the back of the property. These are both stages of the Lady Bug Beetle life-cycle. The top is its larval form and the bottom is the pupae. Don’t kill them, they prey on pest species! A better look at the larval form. One of the most badass insects I’ve seen. The adult will lay it eggs on leaves such as this one, which is covered in aphids to feed on. The chicks after we first got them.

After getting down from the mountains, and on to the eastern side of the Rockies, we drove on a straight flat road for miles and miles and miles. The most exciting thing we saw was a cattle crossing in one of the small towns we passed which stalled us for several minutes. This was wicked fun nonetheless and made me even more excited for the upcoming snowboarding season. Cathredral looking building, made using hundreds of glass bottles.

Yes I am living in a camper next to the chickens. And yes I love it. The chicks after we first got them. A few weeks later. they grow quick! The Turkey and Guinea Fowl.
