http://fret-soup.blogspot.com/2009/06/joeys-sea-otter-race-report.html
Music, Cycling, Guitars, Books, Bikes, Guitarists. Saturday, June 6, 2009. Joey's Sea Otter Race Report. Sea Otter Classic 2009. Jr 15-16 Circuit Race. I hung on for a few more laps until I was officially dropped. Luckily I was not alone, a rider from the AC team was also off the back. We fought hard to catch up but in the end we ended up fighting it out for the sprint, where he got the better of me and I was unable to come around him. Cat 4 Circuit Race. Junior 15-16 Road Race. Monday, February 09, 2009. Swamp Classic - Gainesville Crit. After the races last weekend I was stoked to get out and race again. All of the women categories were together. I have done this race several times. There is a downhill right before the finishing up hill and a small brick section after the first and second turn. There were a couple little bumps around the course but for the most part it's a nice course. I was back in my game. 3 laps to go: I was on Rebecca's wheel. It was getting faster....

Ashlyn Gerber: July 2010
http://ltltp.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 12, 2010. The last race of the spring season passed by a few weeks ago. I was pretty excited to race but I knew the fields would be small. It was one of the hottest weekends ever after 3 straight weekends of races. The womens 3/4 and womens 1,2,3 field managed a combined total of 10 riders. A lot of the big names were gone. I was feeling good. In the warm up my legs weren’t even tired. I was stoked to race and felt confident that I could pull out a win. 1 lap to go: I was ready. I fought...

Ashlyn Gerber: Melbourne Circuit Race
http://ltltp.blogspot.com/2010/07/melbourne-circuit-race.html
Monday, July 12, 2010. Well after a few weeks of down time the races have finally started up again. I had competed in the State Crit as my first cat 2 race but an untimely cold left me with a result that was more than unsatisfying. In the week leading up to the Melbourne weekend I was hungry to race, dying for a win, and stoked out of my mind. The next lap was uneventful. All the girls were looking around waiting for the move to happen. Half way through the 3rd lap it did. Julie went. She...My finish was...

Ashlyn Gerber: March 2009

Monday, March 30, 2009. I was really excited for the Tampa twilight Crit. We have not had a night race in a while so I was super stoked for this one. I started off with the juniors race. The officials gave us an easy lap so we could see the course. It was flat and technical. With 6 corners, cobbles, and a zig-zag (the zig zag was on a one lane, brick road, in the shape of a loose Z.) it was a very intense course. I jumped up and tested everything out. My bike was fine and I escaped with only a couple...

Music, Cycling, Guitars, Books, Bikes, Guitarists. Monday, February 23, 2009. Joey's Cherry Pie Criterium Report. Cherry Pie Crit., 2/8/09. 15th place, Junior 15-16. The start of the season is always marked by Cherry Pie Criterium, which is usually a rude awakening for me to my form, and makes me want to train afterward! Although I had avoided the crash I was now way behind the main pack! We stuck around for the Cat. 4 race to cheer on the other Swifties! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Elvis Costello, "Migh...

Music, Cycling, Guitars, Books, Bikes, Guitarists. Monday, June 8, 2009. Jack Hansen, RIP. When asked about influences, most musicians tend to cite the marquee names: Django, Doc, Jimi, etc., but people like Seattle-area music icon Jack Hansen, who passed away May 23, tend to exert just as much, if not more, influence on young musicians than do the standard-issue guitar heroes. At least that was the case for me. Saturday, June 6, 2009. Joey's Sea Otter Race Report. Sea Otter Classic 2009. I had not expec...
