Bits and Pieces: Good Riddance 2011
http://whitemtnmom.blogspot.com/2012/01/good-riddance-2011.html
Monday, January 02, 2012. After a year filled with such drama and upheaval, almost literally from start to finish, I am SO BEYOND GLAD to be still sane enough to appreciate the fresh start that comes with The New Year! I am emerging. FINALLY. If all this strife was prelude to something amazing, and it just has to be, then frankly it was all worth it. Still, good riddance 2011. The greatest love of all. http://whitemtnmom.blogspot.com/2011/09/she-is-seven.html
Friday, September 16, 2011. On the way to school today:. E: Mom, I have hairy legs. Me: So, hairy legs keep you warm. Like Sasquatch. Me: Yeah. Just like Sasquatch. Sasquatch has long hair everywhere. Like long-sleeved hair. I just have little tiny hairs. Then don't worry about it. Long pause during which I think the subject is dropped). E: I wanna shave my legs. Me: Are you crazy? 5:25 PM, September 16, 2011. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Click here to visit the store. View my complete profile.

Mommy on the Verge: Today I Quit My Job
http://ecaran.blogspot.com/2012/04/today-i-quit-my-job.html
Friday, April 27, 2012. Today I Quit My Job. Now, when I go in to borrow a book, I am a stranger. Not RIGHT now, of course, but in a year or two as staff turns over and they finally hire to fill the vacant Library Assistant positions, I will walk into a building of strangers. Odd. So here I sit on the edge of something new, uncharted, and extremely exciting. Let's just see what happens here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mommy on the Verge. View my complete profile. Mommy on the Verge: New Year's Resolutions and Other Hooey
http://ecaran.blogspot.com/2011/01/new-years-resolutions-and-other-hooey.html
Monday, January 17, 2011. New Year's Resolutions and Other Hooey. So we moved. Then he quit. Then he accepted Job 3 of 2010. Then Athena changed schools. The only thing that could have made the year more stressful is if we'd had a baby or gotten a divorce. Fortunately, we did neither. My head might have exploded. And the Year said, "Well, you COULD make that same diet resolution that everyone else makes. That's always good for a laugh.". Which is now, sadly, quite out of business in my area of the world.

Mommy on the Verge: June 2009
http://ecaran.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Still, it's good to know that libraries are so valued where I live. There are many, many other places around the country that are seeing libraries closed and hours drastically reduced. The Seattle area is seeing all schools lose their professional librarians, leaving the school libraries to be run by assistants and other teachers. So so so so sad. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. And So It Begins. So naturally, I feel very strongly about teaching Athena how important it is to listen, be ...

Mommy on the Verge: December 2009
http://ecaran.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Sure enough, after hunting all over town for my first apartment after college, guess where I ended up. Okay, so that example isn't so strange because I actually get to PICK the apartment I live in, so I could have sort of led myself there (even though I didn't, and there were two other people in on the decision.). But, Dad," says I. "I have no idea what I want to DO with my life. I'm 23, have a BA in English Education, and all I know is I don't. Want to teach.". So I did....

Mommy on the Verge: Dream Dinners Redux
http://ecaran.blogspot.com/2006/07/dream-dinners-redux.html
Monday, July 10, 2006. So I've told you all about Dream Dinners. And how much I love the concept. I even told you that the first couple of meals we had were pretty darn tasty. So on Friday, I'm about to go to my third Dream Dinners session, so I thought I would update you on how it's all working out. First of all, if I'm going back a third time, it must be working out pretty well, so let's just get that out of the way. But let's explore all the ways it is going well. Well, I suppose. This month, I di...

Mommy on the Verge: Identity Crisis
http://ecaran.blogspot.com/2012/04/identity-crisis.html
Sunday, April 29, 2012. When a person makes a major life change, there is an often unexpected phenomenon that occurs. The identity crisis. The surprise is not in that it occurs but in that we are caught by surprise at all. After all. Isn't this what a major life change means? No Longer. A. Librarian. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
