Rollin' with the Dunstons. Thursday, January 17, 2013. Although we have only been here less than 3 months, there are already things that I LOVE about Alaska. In no particular order. I love that the big dipper and north star are EVERYWHERE. The flag, route signs, on the sides of company vans, on our drivers licenses, business signs, etc. And, of course, hanging low and bright in the clear, crisp night sky. I love the big rack mammals! Rollin' with the Dunstons. Sunday, August 11, 2013. We learned a lot about the history of farming in Alaska as well as the current challenges faced by farmers. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes economically, politically, and socially! It really made me want to be more active in the local agriculture movement than just buying produce at the farmers market :o). This farm was by far my favorite - it was beautiful, organic and cozy/homey feeling. The pic below is a potato patch tiller!

Rollin' with the Dunstons. Sunday, August 4, 2013. Things that made me smile. I'm trying to blog more regularly (um, which might not happen). I decided that maybe just sharing a few things from the past week (or so) that made me happy, might make it easier to keep on top of sharing/blogging. So, here it goes - in random order:. Although I am still complaining that we can't escape "people", I have started to appreciate the magnitude of the wilderness in Alaska and have found I can find some solitude on the trails in the early morning light. In June we caught Halibut (with our friends Jessica and Zach) out of a Ninilchik on a fabulously sunny and calm day. This is my very first fish! A cod which was instantly cut up for bait. but i was still very excited about it! We are so lucky...

The race is 1000 miles and runs from Anchorage to Nome (or in reverse every other year) connecting many small villages on the two different north or south routes. Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Things i am currently obsessed with:. Everyone at work always talks about this show, and it always confused me because wasn't buffy a show from the 90's! So i had to find out what i was missing and checked out the first season from work. and i am HOOKED. i am really excited that i have a million more episodes to watch, so much more buffy in the near future. .
