The federal ABLE Act requires the U.S. Treasury to write regulations guiding the creation of state ABLE programs. The Treasury proposed rules in June 2015 for a 90-day comment period, but there is no word yet on when the final federal regulations governing ABLE will be issued. While we await final regulations from the Treasury, Texas is in the process of updating contracts and planning for implementation.
