a stitch in time: October 2012
http://stitchsarah.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
A stitch in time. Some of my time is in stitches. Between singing lessons and vocal coaching at choir, I think I'm on the path to bettering that part of my musicianship. There's plenty of other room for improvement. I'm a woeful time-keeper, especially with offbeat rhythms, and through long rests. Just as I decide I need to do something about this, along comes the opportunity to participate in a 3-day workshop of the TaKeTiNa rhythm learning process. More about the method in this youtube video. It was al...
a stitch in time: December 2013
http://stitchsarah.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
A stitch in time. Some of my time is in stitches. Waking early, refreshed, easily. A tiny kitten for company. Yoga outdoors for an hour. Walking to the beach and back over a big hill - hard work but easy too. Making art from scraps. Visiting the Art Gallery - blown away by Hotere. Meeting up with a series of beloved friends. Receiving a delightful gift. Contemplating an emotional challenge, moving toward resolution. Drinking a single glass of superb wine. Resting in peace in beautiful surroundings. How t...
Feltissimo Art: October 2016
https://feltissimo.blogspot.com/2016_10_01_archive.html
A journey into making felt. Monday, 31 October 2016. Felt and silk brooch in the shape of a boot. Christmas gift. A felt and silk brooch that I have made in the shape of a boot. Now in my etsy shop. When making the felt my the wet felt method I covered the merino wool with pure silk. This has given the brooch a wonderful tactile smoothness. To get a spotted pattern on the boot I needle felted afterwards which has left tiny spots over the surface where the underlying wool shows. Links to this post. Unique...
a stitch in time: abundance
http://stitchsarah.blogspot.com/p/abundance.html
A stitch in time. Some of my time is in stitches. The Quilts of Abundance. The Box of Abundance holds a fairly random mixture of approximately shirt-weight cottonish fabrics from (I think) the middle 1980's. My - self-imposed - challenge is to use it to make quilts for a big patchwork group's community quilt donation programme. Black Abundance - a mixture of horrible geometric prints of primary colours on white. Randomly chopped and reassembled with a little red and a lot of black. Given! Joanne Mattera ...
a stitch in time: seed words
http://stitchsarah.blogspot.com/p/seed-words.html
A stitch in time. Some of my time is in stitches. These might one day be quilts - titles sometimes come before images. Called by some chemistry of honey and musk - A.S. Byatt : something yellow/brown. Warriors against oblivion - something with the metal pieces on grey. The push against the beyond begins - Patiann Rogers. The avoidance of unreason. Ways to say No with no ending. The ones who refuse to survive themselves. Love goes in and out, friendship is forever. Florals behind the barbed wire set?

Shirley Anne Sherris: December 2014
http://shirleyannesherris.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
About me and My book. Tuesday, 16 December 2014. Adding to my Paris project. It is a long time since my last post but I have good reason for that. As I mentioned in my last post, we have been doing major refurbishment of our home. It just keeps snowballing and we have added many more things to do. This has meant that we are still not finished yet - hopefully sometime in January. I have still been managing some textile work and can post some of it today. I used one of these squares -. I make lots of seren...

The Textile Art Post
The Textile Art Post. Fluid textured art using mixed media. Monday, 16 March 2015. Working on the model. I love deconstructed clothing, working with the model and applying fabrics in a free flowing way. I made this garment some years ago from scraps of old jeans. I brought it out to show for an arts trail last year, and the reaction I got and then subsequent commission work really encouraged me to take this method of working a little further. Links to this post. Wednesday, 14 January 2015. The title 'ari...

Textile arts and crafts in Oz. A foray into the world of textiles and the ups and downs of living a creative life. Monday, April 29, 2013. I feel rather daunted wwriting a blog without any pictures. Janie's Creative Journey
I purchased a BabyLock embellisher on a whim. Now what! All the sites I checked out used wool roving. That didn't exactly float my boat, but when I saw Christopher Nejman's Pillows book, I was blown away! Needle punching with an embellisher is a totally new endeaver for me. Could I create something that beautiful? I bought the book, DVD, joined his beginner's group. Travel with me as I learn and improve my craft under the expert guidance of Christopher Nejman.the rest is history! On to Pillow Number Two!
