I remember Mrs Becky singing specials on Sunday mornings and Mr Finley teaching Sunday School. I loved the class he taught the College and Career on the book of Hebrews. But the truth of it is that any meat ought to come back to the simplicity of the gospel, so that both purposes are met. I think we (in general) have got to raise the bar with our preaching getting deeper into the text, so as to raise the bar on what people are doing in their own private studies.
