Letting It All Hang Out: December 2005
http://lettingitallhangout.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Letting It All Hang Out. Tuesday, December 20, 2005. Important things I learned today. 1) A little glitter goes a LONG ways. Particularly when the top falls off as you are shaking it out. And when I say long ways, I mean all over the house. 2) Aforementioned glitter can double as your Christmas decorating. Like when daycare parents arrive and comment on the footprints leading all over the house, simply smile and say "Yes, those are Santa's magical footprints! Posted by KB at 11:04 PM. Ever the mom, I kep...

Letting It All Hang Out: November 2005
http://lettingitallhangout.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Letting It All Hang Out. Tuesday, November 15, 2005. Conversations with a 4yo old. This morning, 7:15am:. H: Mom, I watered your plants. H: Yeah, the tree is really tall. H: Taller than PJ! Me: PJ's pretty tall, isn't she? Is she taller than you? H: She's going to be here soon! Did you invite PJ over? Right How could I ever misconstrue THAT? Posted by KB at 7:52 AM. Thursday, November 10, 2005. A sad tale of a pair of jeans. You umm. weren't actually going to wear those out, were you? So last night I wak...

Letting It All Hang Out: May 2006

Letting It All Hang Out. Wednesday, May 31, 2006. The Power of the Telephone. I think every mother knows it. The telephone has the strange power to cause a child to cry, ask a question, or have an impending emergency. Every single time I pick up the phone, whether to answer or to make a call, it happens. Without fail. The only way I can avoid it is to wait until they are all asleep. Even then, it's like spinning a roulette wheel. Sometimes your number comes up. I had put S on the floor with a couple of b...

Letting It All Hang Out: July 2006
http://lettingitallhangout.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Letting It All Hang Out. Sunday, July 30, 2006. And the cat fell in. Sam is not your ordinary cat. He is quite extraordinary. We did not choose him. He chose us. The cat room at the animal shelter was full of cats - every age and color you could possibly want. We'd narrowed it down to a couple of young kittens when I noticed this black paw madly gesturing (yes, gesturing! I stopped and looked. There was a black kitten turning somersaults and shoving his paws out in an attempt to get my attention. There a...

Letting It All Hang Out: January 2006
http://lettingitallhangout.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Letting It All Hang Out. Tuesday, January 10, 2006. More funny things kids say. So the other day I say to H "What do you want to be when you grow up? She answers me as only an almost-5 year old can - "Older! Made me laugh. Like "Duh Mom, what do you think? The last few days, she's been complaining of an earache. Last night it woke her up and she ended up in bed with us, so this morning I ask her how her ear is doing and get her to take some more Motrin with a decongestant. What a crazy kid. About that ti...

Letting It All Hang Out: February 2006
http://lettingitallhangout.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Letting It All Hang Out. Tuesday, February 28, 2006. A while back, I tried a recipe that called for an 8.75oz can of corn. I found corn beside the beans, but only in 14.5oz cans. I looked all over the shelves, but there was only the one size. So that's what I went with, assuming WalMart didn't carry any, and figuring it wasn't worth going elsewhere just to buy a smaller can. So last night I was going down that aisle the opposite way from how I usually go. And what do I notice about halfway down? Yesterda...

Letting It All Hang Out: April 2006
http://lettingitallhangout.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Letting It All Hang Out. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Yesterday I had kids out sick, so I figured I'd be brave and grocery shop in the afternoon. I still had one daycare kid, plus my three, but I didn't think it would be too bad. And it wasn't. For the most part. I was wearing a purple t-shirt with Sylvester (the cat) on it that says "Theattle". I absolutely love that shirt - and it shows. And the younger kids adore the shirt, presumably because it's a black and white cat. Posted by KB at 9:12 PM. I don't LI...

Letting It All Hang Out: August 2006

Letting It All Hang Out. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Why girls should not wear dresses. Or perhaps I should call this "Thinking Outside the Box". H came home from school to today with a "ME Flower". They are doing "Getting to Know You" in kindergarten this week. The ME Flower was a flower with several petals on it, and they were to color petal 1 with the color of their shirt, petal 2 with the color of their pants, petal 3 with the color of their eyes, and so forth. Letting It All Hang Out: September 2006
http://lettingitallhangout.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Letting It All Hang Out. Sunday, September 24, 2006. About two weeks ago, I did something insane. I took four children ages 3 and under grocery shopping. Back in the "snack" section, I perused the malt beverages, quickly trying to figure out which to fill our new garage fridge ($40! With As I stood there, A started to sing something quietly. And then R started in. Posted by KB at 6:15 PM. Friday, September 01, 2006. I wonder if I should be concerned. So what does she tell me? Naturally, my curiosity has ...
