The Beels in Ethiopia

The Beels in Ethiopia. Our experience of teaching summer school in the English Alive Academy in Nasret, Ethiopia where a quality education is provided for the poorest children. Sunday, 9 September 2012. So it is our last day finally. The week was eventful with a trip to the Fistula Clinic, a healing service and the Donkey Sanctuary. Funnily enough it took a long while to pack – we have spread ourselves out over the weeks. Here is the link to my blog about teaching in government Schools in The Sudan.

At breakfast we were looking at the rain and were thinking about what to do. Should we postpone to the next day? Why don’t we go to the Grade school first? The Beels in Ethiopia. Our experience of teaching summer school in the English Alive Academy in Nasret, Ethiopia where a quality education is provided for the poorest children. Sunday, 22 July 2012. It was a casual conversation. This is the charity we will be working with in the Sudan. We also had vague ideas of staying in Georgia for another semester, until Christmas and then just travelling, possibly picking up some voluntary work en-route, India being my choice of destination. The Beels in The Sudan: Our Permanent Home!

http://thebeelsinthesudan.blogspot.com/2012/09/our-permanent-home.html

The Beels in The Sudan. Our year long Sudan adventure as teachers of English in Government schools through the charity Sudan Volunteer Program. Wednesday, 26 September 2012. Proud owner of a book shelf. The walls were crusty brown before we scrubbed all day. Thrilled to have a wardrobe and to be able to unpack everything. Martin playing ghosties behind the mozzy net. But we are making it our own and are very happy to have unpacked finally after living out of suitcases since June 15. First Day at School.

Camino Ingles: Day 7 - Home to Stansted

http://camino-ingles-2010.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-7-home-to-stansted.html

Saturday, 25 September 2010. Day 7 - Home to Stansted. The morning was a bit rushed (what day wasn’t? And there was a bit of confusion over the time we were leaving and how long it would take us to get to the bus stop to get the bus to the airport. We ended up missing the bus but had plenty of time in the end. Phew! At the airport it was hard to believe that we had packed so much into the previous 6 days. I think we might have! Saturday, 25 September 2010. Day 5 – Hospital de Bruma to Siguieros (15 miles). I checked on Angela at 4 in the morning and she had decided to stay in bed a little longer and leave with Sue and Angela T and Dave in daylight hours. Me and Martin got ready in the dark and made our way out of the Albergue. First problem – all doors were locked and we didn’t know how to get out. Just like cat burglars we removed our rucksacks, pulled up a chair and climbed over a wall to freedom! At 730 we found someone.

Monday, 13 September 2010. Sue's Memoirs of the Camino Ingles 2010. Wednesday 25th August 2010. The only difference is that with age comes snoring but let’s not mention the snoring……. Oh sod it, let’s talk about the snoring. The next morning, having not slept a wink, Veronica is just about ready to kill anyone suspected of snoring and it has to be said that there was a full symphony of snoring going on for most of the night – no wonder those Italian kids left so early! Saturday, 25 September 2010. Day 6 – Siguieros to Santiago (10 miles). Again, lovely to be walking in the dark but we missed our way mark again because we were talking! By now we were a bit reluctant to follow Spanish directions so when a driver told us to go back where we came from I sent Martin back and he was to blow on the whistle 3 times if it was ok to come back! Had a good old chat with Veronica en-route and this was good as there hadn’t really been the opportunity to do so before now. Time for a ...

Midnight Train to Georgia 2011. Friday, 22 June 2012. The Long Goodbye Part 3 - Bazaleti Hotel. After another rough night we emerged from the train at 7.30 in Tbilisi and headed to McDonalds. For a wash and brush up, a burger and strong coffee to set ourselves up for the day. We were meeting up with people to exchange our worldly goods for much needed lari. Martin had been carrying around with him all weekend a very large Georgian - English Dictionary and it was a relief to get rid of it. The Long Goodby...

In terms of lesson content - games were the order of the day - games and singing! With year 3a my favourite little lazy boy is Giorgi (front right) a handsome boy who has ants in his pants. As the end of our time in Georgia draws near everyone starts thinking about what they have discovered about themselves or the impact they have had here. I am no exception! But when it comes to it is hard to say what the effect of this experience has been. But here goes! You can always be more flexible. Candle in Davit Gareji Monastery. The Bee List | a place for my imagination to unravel

A place for my imagination to unravel. Sometimes the pizza rolls in poop. This weekend has been one big suck-fest drowned by copious amounts of Girl Scout Thin Mints. Which, thank the lord for them Girl Scouts cookies. I didn’t even know it was the green-box-of-goodness season! I may be spending too much time watching my neighbors). So now that we have established I may have a minor Thin Mint binge eating/buying disorder, we can move onto the rest of the sucky weekend. Not creepy at all),. Doesn’t ...

Thank you for stopping by. My name is Dean Harada. I score music to picture and make films. The processes of composing and filmmaking reconcile all the contradictory things I love: collaboration and solitude, narrative structure and nonlinear thinking, technology and the human touch. A filmmaker whose work I adore pinned this quote of Camus’ above her desk:. This work constantly reminds me that through attentiveness to what’s infront of us we can create another world, whole and divine. Or maybe. Got the ...
