The Big Blue Office - teaching afloat tips and advice

The Big Blue Office – teaching afloat tips and advice. Anchoring – Rig it right! November 7, 2014. I don’t want to go into how we anchor, but rigging a decent setup in a modern dinghy can be frustratingly untidy. Always use what you have, and a laser 2000 is a great example of this. The main key points still stands, ie. The base of the mast is a strong point. Storage buckets built into boats make great anchor lockers. It also take up no additional space, which is great for the sailors. November 7, 2014.

Downhaul – it does what it’s called! | The Big Blue Office - teaching afloat tips and advice

https://thebigblueoffice.wordpress.com/2014/08/21/downhaul-it-does-what-its-called

The Big Blue Office – teaching afloat tips and advice. Downhaul – it does what it’s called! August 21, 2014. With many rudder assemblies now using the wing nut and downhaul system, it amazes me how many people do not know how to use it. The wing nut holds it up, but should be loose when in use, and the downhaul should always be pulled on to hold the rudder down. If the wing nut is used for the down position, more often than not the blade will creep up with the wate. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

The Big Blue Office – teaching afloat tips and advice. Neat Boat = Happy Boat. November 7, 2014. Neatness and being methodical are some key elements of good seamanship. Not only does it care for your kit, but it also makes tasks easier. Instilling this culture into students learning to sail should start right at the beginning of their experience, so they can deal with issues, problem solve better, and enjoy being afloat more too. The Big Blue Office – teaching afloat tips and advice. August 18, 2014. Modern dinghies are often rigged with a more traditional mindset. However with a bit of lateral thinking we can improve how effective our sail controls are. Rigging the jib sheets as a continuous line will allow the crew to remain on the windward side – esspecially good on the beat or a spinnaker run! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. When not to knot | The Big Blue Office - teaching afloat tips and advice

https://thebigblueoffice.wordpress.com/2014/09/02/when-not-to-knot

The Big Blue Office – teaching afloat tips and advice. When not to knot. September 2, 2014. Windsurfing boom clamps always seem to baffle beginners, leading to wobbly connections, and (more) wobbly sailors. Getting the string tight enough to hold is the key, but to many people tie a knot behind the cleat – making it a nightmare to undo. Here is my simple answer to getting it to hold. At the end of the day, when you release the clamp, its stright forwards to un tie. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

The Big Blue Nation Report

Sunday, September 11, 2011. Hey 2-0 is still 2-0! It's certainly no secret that Kentucky has played some horrendous football the last two games. The result.2-0, including their home opener yesterday against Central Michigan. Has there been a few bright spots? The start of the season has been sloppy and truthfully not very exciting to watch, but I think that the Cats are coming together at the right time. Links to this post. Friday, August 19, 2011. the big blue project

The big blue project. The life and times of 501 N Boyer. The things I miss. Its dining room moulding. In December we put the big blue project on hold and moved to Denver. We still own the house and plan to indefinitely. We have renters looking out for it for now but we hope to use it as a vacation home later in life. Last night in the house; the next day we took the 17 hour drive to Denver. Not very exciting so far but the guest house needed much more work (it really does have a door, not sure why it's a...
