First was a tour of the sulphur pit, a barren landscape with pools bubbling at over 100*C. We were then set up in a private mud pool, where we could smother ourselves in the rejuvenating sulphuric mud. During the West Australia "winter", we decided to drive North to the Coral Coast in search of some sun. Friday, April 8, 2011. In Western Australia, Footy rules. All the boys play Aussie Rules Football- think of it as Canada and hockey. Liam wanted to give it a go and we signed him up at the local club. One practice in and then we had the first fixture last night. Aussie Rules at the highest levels requires athletes to be able to run 10-15 km a game, who can outmuscle and outjump their opponents, and can then kick a ball up to 60-70m through uprights. Friday, May 13, 2011. Take me to the Opera house. There is certainly no other building in Australia as Iconic as the Opera House. The setting in the Harbour and next to Harbour Bridge makes it even more spectacular. It is definitely something that is best seen from the water. We managed to see it it twice, coming and going from the ferry to Manly. (Manly Beach is a definite must for people visiting Sydney). Being proud Canadians, we also ran parts of Simon Whitfield's gold medal run in the 2000 Olympics.

Monday, June 20, 2011. We had a outing arranged for us by the local exchange committee to visit Yanchep National Park, just North of Perth. In addition to the requisite horde of kangaroos, the park has an extensive cave system and close ties to the local Aboriginal people.
