Thanks for checking out The Matilda Project! If you’re curious about the person behind the ranting, this is my potted bio. When I was a kid I had no friends because while the other children were playing tag or football or hide-and-seek I was sitting in the corner reading a book and wishing they’d be quieter. Don’t feel sorry for me; I was perfectly happy. 75 responses to “ The Narcissism Bit. Have you been to Hausman’s by King’s Cross? That was a favourite back in London! Science Fiction / Fantasy. Science Fiction / Fan. Travels with Deb . Her by Harriet Lane. You may remember my review of Harriet Lane’s previous novel Alys Always. I greatly admire Ms. Lane’s spare and visual writing style –she’s a writer who can paint so much in so few words. Is her second novel and like. It’s creepy minimalist writing at its best. Told in the first-person narrative. From two women’s perspectives, the novel teases you along in alternating chapters. As in her previous novel, Ms. L...

Type book, but I opened it anyway the other night – needing a little break from my current WWII read. And yes,. Is very much in the same genre. A "cuppa" interview with illustrator Celia Hart. My blog will be one year old this week and I have been reflecting on how it felt to post my first entry, it was a bit like talking to the ether! Otherwise known as Magic Cochin from her blog Purple Podded Peas. When I first saw Celia’s blog I felt so inspired that I went out and bought myself some lino! This will be my third such interview to date. Q1) How do you take your tea and in what kind of cup do you like it served? And both sometimes appear in my p...

I can't tell you how happy I was painting this little miniature, listening to radio 3 in my freshly painted and decorated room. I am ridiculously pleased with my new purchase, a funny little oak cupboard found in a junk shop in Leek. It now houses my paints and arty stuff and I wonder why I have never before thought of such a thing. An exhibition of prints and illustrated books from the collection of Julian Francis and including work by Edward Ardizzone, John Farleigh, Barnett Freedman, Lucian Freud, Eri...
