The Tenth Bridgerule Open Gardens. Sunday 19th June 2016. For a number of years now, the villagers in Bridgerule have been holding an annual open gardens day , usually a Sunday in June, when a number of gardens are opened to the public. Each year the chosen charity has been the Air Ambulance. Bridgerule is on the River Tamar, usually the county boundary between Devon and Cornwall, so both the Devon and Cornwall Air Ambulances are supported on this day. So do come along if you can. 11am - 4 pm.

National Mills Weekend is organised by SPAB (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) Wind and Watermill section and it coincides with Real Bread Week too! In 2016 we will be opening the Bridge Mill on the Sunday. Of that weekend - the 15th May 2016 from 11.00 am to 4 pm. Throughout the day there will be guided mill tours with flour being ground by water power and visitors will be able to take flour home to make some real bread! Guided Mill Tours throughout the day. The history of Bridgerule. There is more to add and any help or old photos would be greatly appreciated. The picture to the right is the entrance to the old wheel pit at Merrifield where an underground waterwheel produced the power to move the canal tub boats between the 2 canal levels. It is a now a large underground void but the inclined plane and the canal bed can still be made out. The modern pronunciation of Ruald is Reginald, hence the references to Bridge Reginald in many historical accounts. ...
