The Cheerful Agrarian

One happy homesteader sharing what she's learned. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Much More Mulch: Cover Crops. I like to think I've come a long way since back in 2011 when I last wrote about my mulching experiments. No more plastic for me; now I'm mulching with combinations of chicken bedding. Cardboard, living mulches, and green manures. Instead of being concerned only with weed control (although that is certainly still my main priority), I now think more in terms of soil building and conditioning. As you can...

One happy homesteader sharing what she's learned. Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Look what I found this morning -. Beautiful white oyster mushrooms growing on the kit I bought online this winter! Here's the link to the kit I bought. I kind of feel like this should be a story of how NOT to grow mushrooms from a kit - I neglected it a lot, and it still turned out OK. So don't be afraid to try it, it's really pretty foolproof! Cookbook. Mmmmm . . . is it lunchtime yet? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This has ...

The Cheerful Agrarian: Raise Bread on a Seedling Mat

http://thecheerfulagrarian.blogspot.com/2015/04/raise-bread-on-seedling-mat.html

One happy homesteader sharing what she's learned. Thursday, April 9, 2015. Raise Bread on a Seedling Mat. In another of my Captain Obvious moments, I realized this afternoon that the seedling heat mat. I purchased this spring would be the perfect tool to help my bread rise. We generally keep our house at around 65 degrees, which can really slow yeast growth. The heat mat, however, is designed to raise the temperature about 10 degrees - perfect for bread! Pursuing His Path: February 2012

http://pursuinghispath.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 10, 2012. Most of the blogs I follow are people I never met, but they also hold influence on me. It makes me thankful and makes me think of how I am using my influence in my home, and everywhere else. On another note, C2 and J performed a dance performance tonight. It was fantastic and lead to a family dance time! Memories being created constantly. Makes me wonder what memories each will take away. One event, but each family member can take a different memory away. My Year of Wanderlust.

Pursuing His Path: August 2012

http://pursuinghispath.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 5, 2012. My calendar says today is National Friend Day. I have been so incredibly blessed with amazing friends - old and new ones. Time goes way to quickly, things can change in an instant, and I don't ever want to take any of them for granted. I love you all! I rather enjoy the way facebook lets me stay in touch with loved ones near and far. I am finally going through the last two boxes of paperwork I had and organizing them. Coming across all kinds of goodies! Saturday, August 4, 2012.

Pursuing His Path: Life

http://pursuinghispath.blogspot.com/2014/02/life.html

Saturday, February 22, 2014. I have posted several blog posts in my head.they just don't make it from my head to the computer without help! I have also made sure I am writing in my "real" journal before personal blogging. A year has passed since my last writing on this blog. So many changes -always. For the last two years in May I have had life changing phone calls. I just may not answer the phone this May! In the valleys, there has been much joy. For you lifted me out of the depths. And you healed me.

the cheerful calamity | a guide to being fabulous, carrying on and making it work. (tim gunn style.)

A guide to being fabulous, carrying on and making it work. (tim gunn style.). I used to get anxious about the passage of time growing up, especially in the summer. My birthday is toward the end of July, so after the last gift was ripped open and the thank-you notes had been sent, summer was almost over. It meant exchanging my carefree days at the pool for homework-filled nights after school. And in the last few years I have measured months and years by my weight gains or losses.
