Sunday, June 14, 2015. What Are You Reading? It's summer time, and the reading is great! It's been a few weeks since I've last shared my reading week. A lot has happened in that time. I wrapped up my short lived career as a private school teacher and happily accepted a new position as a fourth grade teacher in a public school. I am looking forward to the next school year already! If you're not on vacation yet, hang in there, it's coming! Thanks to our dynamic hosts: Jen at Teach Mentor Texts. I was intri...

Use Your Outside Voice: Wearing my hope and struggle on my sleeve
http://useyouroutsidevoice.blogspot.com/2015/08/wearing-my-hope-and-struggle-on-my.html
Saturday, August 15, 2015. Wearing my hope and struggle on my sleeve. I've had a tattoo for over ten years now. It's on my lower back and hidden from sight. I had no intention of ever getting a tattoo that was regularly visible to the world. But as the years have gone on, I have entertained the thought of getting another, more visible tattoo. Something small, dainty, and literary. Something to show the world that I am a reader and a teacher. For a while I considered getting the line:. In a grad school cl...

Exploring social change in kid lit. Nonfiction Picture Book Wednesday: The Case for Loving. February 25, 2015. February 20, 2015. Last week I learned of Alyson Beecher’s Nonfiction Picture Book Challenge. Hosted at her site Kid Lit Frenzy. I’m excited about the new source of reading recommendations, as well as a chance to share some. I’m not sure if I’ll post every week but I like the way Alyson does mini reviews, so I’ll try that approach to keep it manageable. 8221; written by Selina Alko. Check out th...

Teaching in the 21st Century: Celebrating a Rainy Perspective
http://teachingin21.blogspot.com/2015/06/celebrating-rainy-perspective.html
Teaching in the 21st Century. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Celebrating a Rainy Perspective. My next celebration is one of learning at home! Which is perfect for me since I chose to stay home this summer and not attend the summer conferences that I have typically gone too. It really is amazing that I could sit at home on my deck and feel like I was at Allwrite15 through twitter. I wrote several ideas in my WNB and tweeted out and felt like I was almost there. Perfect for me. Thanks to Ruth Ayre's. Being conne...

Monthly Archives: April 2013. April 11, 2013 · 6:08 pm. Tokyo Pizza – A rollicking good time. Tokyo Pizza was written by Michael Lane as an entry for the 30 hour #nanowriwee contest held by Harper Collins. It made it to the shortlist and it was a well deserved accolade. I had the pleasure of reading Toyko Pizza in its raw state at hour 31 of the contest and even then it was an amazing bit of literature. Definitely worth the time! I highly recommend it. You can find it here on Amazon! Follow Blog via Email.

Lore wrinkled her nose at the coppery scent that hung in the quiet air, as her horse picked its way carefully down from the treeline. Broken bodies and shattered weaponry lay around the small valley. The battle had been hard fought, and barely won. Farther off a large grey cat padded amongst the dead, stopping now and then to investigate. 8220;I don’t think this is a good idea.”.
