The Classics Club

Read and Share the Most Influential Literature of All Time. Saturday, January 10, 2009. Confucius, Plato, Aristotle, and now Mencius are all concerned with what is good—no, what is best. How can we be the best people, the best society, the best leaders? But even then, they do not take for granted that everyone understands that there is a “best.” Is this discussion boring, irrelevant, and best left to philosophers and religious extremists? The Classics Club: March 2008

http://www.theclassicsclub.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Read and Share the Most Influential Literature of All Time. Monday, March 10, 2008. Sun Tzu: The Art of War. The Art of War was actually quite refreshing for me—not just because of the length, but because it was pretty easy to understand, or to ignore if I knew it would never really apply to me unless playing a serious game of laser tag. I actually found many insights into parenting, leading a group or a business team, and other basic social situations. How like war life really is. If you are quiet and i...

Read and Share the Most Influential Literature of All Time. Saturday, January 10, 2009. I really, really liked the first ones we read— Apology. Will prevail. Death. Is not punishment. The Spirit. Read and Share the Most Influential Literature of All Time. Monday, March 10, 2008. Thucydides: The History of the Peloponnesian War. My fellow warriors, it has been found that our small troops are no match for the Thucydian force, despite our allies in. I then propose that we send emissaries to. Hee hee. This is my clever way of giving up while still showing how much I’ve learned from the portions of Thucydides I actually read. Did it work? Let’s hope so. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jan's Journal: The Christian Paradox

http://jan-journal.blogspot.com/2011/07/christian-paradox.html

Thursday, July 7, 2011. My mother and I were discussing what it means to find yourself by losing yourself, what appears to be the great Christian paradox. All of that could be fine if this life was all there was. But Christians believe it isn't. We believe there is more we can become, that God's plan, this mortal life experience, is the best way to learn and choose and be tested, and that there is a another realm of existence toward which we should be striving. So what is that realm like? We are free to ...

It was fun to handle the books again and make stacks and think about what I've experienced. What a feast. Posted by Janice Graham. Thats a fun idea, and what hefty stacks. Jan's Journal: Boot Camp Blues

http://jan-journal.blogspot.com/2012/10/boot-camp-blues.html

Tuesday, October 9, 2012. I felt so good every day. Whatever the combination of circumstances, it was just what I need to feel light, and energetic (although I did need an afternoon nap from getting up so early). That's me in white visor, front, second from right, Emily front left in headband and Elise standing right in white shirt. Now that I am home I see I was spoiled and am trying to duplicate just what it was that worked so well while I was there. Was it because my girls got me up?
