The Crabbe Trap

Tuesday, June 19, 2012. World War I rolls into town. A couple of big chores laid in front of us still before closing on the old house. We had to get all of our reinspections (town, fire and gas) done, and we had to get the rest of our stuff out of the basement and garage. But we're never ones to let a big job distract us from something distracting. So, when Steve heard on the news that the World War I Museum's traveling exhibit. The Crabbe Trap: April 2012

http://www.thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 24, 2012. These are a few of my favorite things . . . About the new house! My uber-wise friend Stacy said it best: "It's the small things in life that make it so special." In that spirit, here are a few photos of things about the new house that get me all jazzed up. The neon-blue water and ice cube dispenser in the fridge is like Star Trek. The kitchen faucet detaches and becomes a sprayer. With two water settings! The kitchen ceiling fan has a remote! And that's just what's in the kitchen!

The Crabbe Trap: Steve's off-road rash

http://www.thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2009/06/steves-off-road-rash.html

Thursday, June 25, 2009. Steve took a short roll down a long hill today while mountain biking at Castlewood State Park. Then he rode all the way home! He scrubbed the heck out of his leg, then woke me up, gently, from my nap and asked me, nicely, to go to Walgreens for him and get him major first aid supplies for this major off-road rash! We used a whole roll of tape on this first dressing. Gotta go back and get more if we're going to wrap it again tomorrow! Any improvement in the leg? Sh*t My Dad Says.

The Crabbe Trap: Prague diary: Tracing roots in Kadov

http://www.thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2010/06/prague-diary-tracing-roots-in-kadov.html

Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Prague diary: Tracing roots in Kadov. On Steve's birthday, he and his traveling companions met up with Rasto, who translates and gives geneaological tours in Europe. They got the singular treat of taking a trip to Kadov. South of the capital. It's the area that Steve's great-grandparents came from. (Now might be a good time to remind everyone who's on this trip: Steve, Emilyn, Steve's cousins Laura and Brian, and Steve's aunt Ellen.). Had huge meat platter, beef, duck, pork and ch...

The Crabbe Trap: Staycation begins

http://www.thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/06/staycation-begins.html

Monday, June 11, 2012. On our first day of "staycation," Daddy went on a long bike ride with his friends, so the kids and I kind of had a slow day at home. Later on, when the weather dried out, we took a drive to Lone Elk Park, mostly because it's where Emilyn likes to practice driving. We saw a beautiful deer, and baby buffalo. But the native animals were restless! This mommy elk charged our car! That's why she's blurry! Uniquely St. Louis. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

The Crabbe Trap: Staycation - Magic by night

http://www.thecrabbetrap.blogspot.com/2012/06/staycation-magic-by-night.html

Thursday, June 14, 2012. Staycation - Magic by night. On Daddy's birthday eve, he fortified us all with his homemade chicken marsala (and please, ask him about the crunchy broccoli). I had purchased tickets for my main goal of Staycation: the Lantern Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden. I borrowed a tripod from my good friend Ron and was ready to take some pictures! We got there before. Dark and milled around with at least two bus-fuls of tourists. There were quite a few senior citizens. Luxe 365 p...

The easy way to keep pace with us as we try to conquer as much of America as we can . keep checking back to see what kind of exciting nonsense comes up next! Wednesday, October 31. Wellthis year, I went a little crazy with the pumpkins. At 10 cents a pound, how could I not? After we came home from the trick or treating, Kelley and I decided to leave some treats at our friends homes. We left the "witch" at Carmen's house, the "smiling ghost" at Martina's and Claudia got the "halloween window". I received a...

The easy way to keep pace with us as we try to conquer as much of America as we can . keep checking back to see what kind of exciting nonsense comes up next! Tuesday, May 8. Our New Best Friend. We have named him "Sam.". Sam is the owner of the butchery here in town, a little piece of heaven called Raisch Metzgerei. So, I start preparing my secret recipe for meatballs and notice that the color is much lighter, the consistency is much lighter and not nearly as greasy as American burger seems. I wonder...

Monday, June 10, 2013. I think this is the first year that I came home from the beach with less than 500 photos on my memory card. I hardly took any! But we had a great week and I kind of enjoyed not chasing every body with the camera all week. The weather was perfect and we made great memories playing on the beach, swimming in the (freezing cold!
