Sat Bains: The Cube by Electrolux - thecriticalcouple

http://www.thecriticalcouple.com/1/post/2012/06/sat-bains-the-cube-by-electrolux.html

Sat Bains: The Cube by Electrolux. We attended as guests the press and bloggers launch of The Cube by Electrolux. To enter the Cube, you're required to go to the top floor of the Royal Festival Hall after which Cube staff lead you outside and up to the Cube itself which has been lowered on to the roof. The result of course is stunning views across London, especially west Parliament and the London Eye, and with the Cube effectively glass on three sides, it offers amazing views while you eat. The lamb, a b...

thecriticalcouple - Alyn Williams

http://www.thecriticalcouple.com/alyn-williams.html

Alyn Williams: technically brilliant, beautifully original. Alyn Williams is in many ways a chef's chef. Of the many chefs that we've encountered over the past year, when the name Alyn Williams is mentioned, the same two points come up again and again. First, respect. We've never met a chef yet who didn't respect Alyn's cooking and he's considered by many to be amongst the UK's leading talents. Alyn's restaurant should be a welcome addition to the London scene for he has an immaculate pedigree, having wo...

Paul Ainsworth: bringing the magic of No6 to London. That Number 6 was in our top ten restaurant visits of 2011. For our part, after 2011, we had not intended to do more of our Chef Dinners, but having become involved with The Manna Society. Head Chef John Walton. Alongside our support of the Manna Society, a charity local to us, Paul chose a charity local to him, RNLI Padstow. Beautiful plates from Goodfellows. And two essential chef/kitchen aids: Pacojet from ChefTools. And Thermomix from UK Thermomix.

UK Non London Restaurant Map. This map shows UK restaurants that we have blogged that are outside the M25 orbital. Each marker provides links through to our post as well as the restaurant's own website and other useful information. We hope this makes our non London posts easier to navigate. In a larger map. Just popping out to get some milk... - thecriticalcouple

http://www.thecriticalcouple.com/1/post/2012/10/just-popping-out-to-get-some-milk.html

Just popping out to get some milk. We recently drove 2,557 miles around the UK stopping off at a few places along the way, here's where we went:. B: The Pony and Trap. C; The Masons Arms. F: Paul Ainsworth at Number 6. G: Lords of the Manor. I: Simon Radley at Chester Grosvenor. S: The Magpie Cafe. Nice posts all round, and interesting to read about some less well known outposts of British culinary excellence. But; how on earth did you do it?

Bringing it back…Black Forest Gateau | Cupcakes and Glitter

https://cupcakesandglitter.wordpress.com/2010/11/03/bringing-it-back-black-forest-gateau

Bringing it back…Black Forest Gateau. It seems to be that, generally speaking, Black Forest Gateau is regarded as being very 70’s and highly unfashionable. It’s one of those desserts that is always stocked in a supermarket freezer cabinet, all soggy cake and faux cream. Bleurgh. I tend to find that my first port of call when looking for classic recipes is the wonderful Delia Smith, in particular her Complete Cookery Course book. 5 oz/150g caster sugar. For the filling and topping. 2 oz/50g plain chocolate.

FatFranGetsFin: March 2013

I'm Fran. I'm FAT. This is my blog where I try to get thin(ner). Tuesday, 19 March 2013. This week has been a strange one. It started with some news that I could have done without which plunged me into a slightly dark place. I continued to feel generally under the weather and very lethargic which was bad timing as it was a pretty demanding week. Thursday was rubbish. I had a work thing which went on until late so I wasn't able to eat until I got home when I just had scrambled eggs in a pitta bread. On Fr...

http://fatfrangetsfin.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

I'm Fran. I'm FAT. This is my blog where I try to get thin(ner). Tuesday, 26 February 2013. So last week was bad. I went into this week with new rules:. 1) Fix the kitchen scales and weigh EVERYTHING - I have no concept of portion sizes at all and I need to be more strict. Bad but also not totally depressing. 3) Given that there are going to be bad days, make sure that I over-compensate on good days. Don't consume all my points (this is not recommended by Weight Watchers BUT I DON'T CARE). Made this love...

I'm Fran. I'm FAT. This is my blog where I try to get thin(ner). Tuesday, 25 September 2012. Migraines and tomato sauce.only one of these is good. In reality, it's stressful because I don't know how long it will last and I can't make it stop. Eyes open, it's there. Closed eyes, it's there. I can't turn on the light because that makes me want to vomit. I become EXTREMELY sensitive to light and become a bit "Hollywood swooning diva". Can you believe such a thing? I'm Fran. I'm FAT. This is my blog where I try to get thin(ner). Sunday, 25 September 2011. A week ago,Sue and I were stuck in a restaurant in Alcudia Old Town for a very long afternoon while the rain absolutely bucketed down around us. What could we do, other than get drunk? And drunk we got. Very. Part way through this impromptu drinking session, we started discussing my happiness (which is often really quite low) and the fact that my weight has such a bearing on it. The conversation went like this.
