THE CURSE (Erica, Keith, Mallory and Anna). Tuesday, March 31, 2009. The naked saint does fit into the characteristics of the fairytale genre. First off, there is a naked saint who is in charge of turning "the. Powerful rushing wheel of time" (298). This saint is seems. Slightly/drastically crazy throughout the story and is "trapped in the. Whirlpool of his wild confusion (297). He is given a magical task to. Always turn the wheel and he refuses to follow the rules as seems to be a. Http:/ theessentialev...

THE MEAN GIANT (Brian, Caitlin, Lydia, Briana and Amy-Lee): Kunstmärchen - Wackenroder's A Wondrous Oriental Tale of a Naked Saint
http://themeangiant.blogspot.com/2009/04/kunstmarchen-wackenroders-wondrous.html
THE MEAN GIANT (Brian, Caitlin, Lydia, Briana and Amy-Lee). Thursday, April 2, 2009. Kunstmärchen - Wackenroder's A Wondrous Oriental Tale of a Naked Saint. In my opinion, the music written on the the page is extremely weak. It evoked little emotion and thus the Naked Saint's strong reaction to it seemed out of sync with the story to me. Poetic language is never as powerful as music, however, when the music must be read rather than heard, poetic language is superior. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

THE MEAN GIANT (Brian, Caitlin, Lydia, Briana and Amy-Lee): Clever Bride in "The Robber Bridegroom"
http://themeangiant.blogspot.com/2009/03/clever-bride-in-robber-bridegroom.html
THE MEAN GIANT (Brian, Caitlin, Lydia, Briana and Amy-Lee). Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Clever Bride in "The Robber Bridegroom". March 25, 2009 at 12:53 PM. I completely agree with you that the girl in this tale seems to be a model of cleverness and self-preservation. The cleverness shown by marking the way home with peas and lentils and then her plot to reveal the bridegroom as a robber by telling the story like it was a dream show great cleverness and self-preservation instincts. THE CURSE (Erica, Keith, Mallory and Anna). Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Or The Frog King. Not only does the saint change, but before the music, homes are transformed. Finally, althought the story doesn't end with a marriage like many fairy tales, it does include love and what I read to be a "happily ever after.". April 1, 2009 at 4:00 PM. I find your discussion of music interesting. Can text have the same dimension- volume, texture and key-when it is read aloud? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

THE CURSE (Erica, Keith, Mallory and Anna): Prompt 7: DEFA films

THE CURSE (Erica, Keith, Mallory and Anna). Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Prompt 7: DEFA films. March 18, 2009 at 7:31 PM. I like that you brought up the fact that this film, like so many others, caters primarily to a male audience. I also like that you mentioned that DEFA films often replace the magical with the technological. It is a marker for the progression of the times. Erica D. Santiago. March 19, 2009 at 10:02 AM. THE ESSENTIAL EVILS: 1/18/09 - 1/25/09
http://theessentialevils.blogspot.com/2009_01_18_archive.html
Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Hansel and Gretel" from , The Cruel Witch". Here's the basis of our "movie pitch" (i.e. background, scenario, setting, etc.) Since we started an e-mail thread and kept sending our ideas building on the previous person's e-mail, I figured it'd work best to just put everyone's ideas right here together:. Keene's mellow demure also makes me question if the witch would die by being shoved into the stove or if would happen more calmly. Possibly the children could trick her int...

THE ESSENTIAL EVILS: Post by Michelle Kim from ,,The Nasty Stepmother''
http://theessentialevils.blogspot.com/2009/04/post-by-michelle-kim-from-nasty_08.html
Wednesday, April 8, 2009. Post by Michelle Kim from , The Nasty Stepmother'. This story had some fairy tale elements like taking place in a non-specific time and place, and of course the transformation of the daughter into a rose during her nightly prayer. Posted by Michelle Kim. There was no element of magic in other characters, making me wonder as well if it was really a fairytale, or anything that could be classified in general.
