Thursday, April 10, 2008. Video from box-cutter brawl posted on YouTube. A video from the scene of the student knifing in the Circle surfaced on YouTube earlier today. The video looks like it was taken from a cell phone camera and the quality is very low. The video was not taken by a member of The Daily Mississippian staff. Posted by Paul Quinn. The DM Online: Newsblog: What really happened?

Thursday, April 17, 2008. When Judge Henry Lackey testified about how he helped catch the Scruggs bribe conspirators he said, before going to the Federal government, he went to Lon Stallings local assistant District Attorney for advice. Stallings added he did not know East was working with Moore. Moore took that to mean Stallings never said that to Lackey. However Stallings did tell Lackey (when they met) he thought Hood was being threatened. An email sent by Lee Martin, an attorney in Moore's office, to...

The DM Online: Newsblog: Scruggs Update

http://thedmonline.blogspot.com/2008/03/scruggs-update_6703.html

Friday, March 14, 2008. I received a phone call from Barbra Lago at Ole Miss public relations right after speaking with Mr. Creekmore (see post below). For many of the questions regarding Scruggs and his involvement with the University she could not give any final answers. After calling Ms. Lago and asking if a request was likely, she said she did not think so. Chacellor Kayhat and Gloria Kellum are out of town right now and might discuss it next week however, Ms. Lago was not sure. Again Lago responded ...

Friday, March 14, 2008. US attorneys file new motion. Two US. attorneys from the Western District of Tennessee filed a motion concerning new evidence in the conspiracy involving Dick Scruggs. Because Zach Scruggs did not plead guilty to the bribe conspiracy the motion is to allow evidence against him. The evidence was acquired during the Nov. 27 search of the Scruggs Law Firm, court documents show. The motion is to allow prosecutors against Scruggs to have access to the files. Scruggs faces 5 years in ja...

Inside The DM: An unknown future?

http://insidethedm.blogspot.com/2008/01/unknown-future.html

Thursday, January 31, 2008. Editor Marti Covington and I were casually discussing the future of print at dinner earlier tonight and both came to similar epiphanies: why do we care so much about the future of print? Why is change so hard for people, namely the journalists themselves, to accept and even embrace? Thinking about the process of The DM, where the writers and photographers submit their assignments by 4 pm and 11 hours later Marti is sending a completed newspaper to the printer on Jackson Ave&#4...

Inside The DM: Life = Work

http://insidethedm.blogspot.com/2007/11/life-work.html

Wednesday, November 7, 2007. I wish I could come up with some kind of flashy title for this blog, or even think of something witty to say to all those readers out there who will look at this, but that just won’t happen. You see, I am the Photo Editor of the DM, so hopefully that excuses me from my over use of commas and slight grammatical errors. After all the proper formatting is done, and all cut lines and photos are in the correct folder and placed on the server, I assign things for the coming days&#4...

Inside The DM: You may comment...

http://insidethedm.blogspot.com/2007/11/you-may-comment.html

Friday, November 9, 2007. After a few weeks of "The DM SUX! And "This writer is a fool and a slut! The daily number of comment emails dropped significantly when I started moderating them. From an unchecked 65 to 100 comments a day, we now get about 20. And do you know how many of those survive the Great Comment Purge As According to the Comment Policy? Maybe 6. On a good day. But above all things, be sure to remember this: leave your last initial. Because if you don't, I will be there, purging withou...

Inside The DM: Negatives into positives

http://insidethedm.blogspot.com/2008/01/negatives-into-positives.html

Thursday, January 24, 2008. Why did they have to take it there? They don't really know me.". Simply put, I'm just an average student with a rather extraordinary job. But the longer I keep this position and give 100 percent of myself everyday to being successful in it, the more extraordinary I also become - and that is really exciting. Wednesday, February 20, 2008. The DM Online gets a facelift. I hope the updated design of The DM Online now better reflects the print version of the newspaper and the content of the site. http://insidethedm.blogspot.com/2007_10_21_archive.html

Wednesday, October 24, 2007. It’s easy to publish easy news everyday. Every time you turn around some professor is getting published or an honors student has won another award. These stories fill the mailboxes of editors and reporters everyday. While this is refreshing, it's often the easy way out for your local news media — especially a community/college paper. With ATTN: DIVERSITY in the subject. Whose story are we not telling? Links to this post. Tuesday, October 23, 2007. Marti wrote about this in th...

Inside The DM: Yes, folks, we're for real

http://insidethedm.blogspot.com/2007/11/yes-folks-were-for-real.html

Monday, November 5, 2007. Yes, folks, we're for real. As the City News Editor, one of the most surprising things I've seen is just how many people take us seriously. I mean, after all, we're just a bunch of students, not a professional news organization, right? I find that has stayed true as I moved up to the editorial position. So more than anything, I want to say thank you to Mayor Richard Howorth, County Administrator Richard Copp, Alderman Janice Antonow, Police Chief Mike Martin and all the other ad...

Moved – to http:/ www.folo.us. This page is the FORMER home of the folo weblog). As I recall . . . What’s going on with Zach Scruggs. I’m going to post what is visible in public because of reports on the. Site that Zach Scruggs has struck a deal to surrender his law license and defer prosecution (I’m not sure what that would mean). I have seen nothing to confirm this. This made two things clear: Unless something changes, the trial is still on, and the parties are negotiating. If there was a deal with...

Daniel . megan . winston . henry . william. Monday, July 6, 2015. William turned three the end of June. We thought a bug party would be fitting…he loves bugs and is always willing to touch whatever he finds outside and also loves to bring them to me to show me how cool they are :). One of William's favorites to find are worms, so we thought a live worm dig would be fun. It was so fun to put everything together for him. He was so excited about everything. Can't believe he's three. Tuesday, June 9, 2015.

The D Monster

Tuesday, November 17, 2009. This past weekend we finally took our long awaited, first ever, family vacation! Dmonster was overwhelmed at the sights and sounds of the Disneyland Resort. The holiday decorations were already up and many of the rides already had the Christmas feel to them. When we got to the hotel, there was a basket and balloons waiting in our room for the D-man.He was over the moon! A huge Mickey balloon and then Mickey ears, an autograph book, special pen, and then candy on top of that!
