The Dom way round

The Dom way round. Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Greece - is the word! I popped in to Greece for a couple of days: why not! I was heading for the famous Meteora Monasteries - a series of six monasteries perched on top of ( conveniently) six mountain tops. I was very impressed. This was one occasion I really wished I had a good camera and not just an iPad. So that was Greece. Did I notice any problems? I had a lovely shady spot ( it was 35 degrees in Greece). UNTIL 7 BOY SCOUTS TURNED UP! Heidi is still runn...

The Dom way round. Tuesday, 23 September 2014. Gone Riding - on sale. On this blog I write about my motorcycle adventures. You can buy a signed copy direct from me at www.domgiles.co.uk. Or you can get the Kindle from Amazon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I now use this blog to write about my current bike trips&#46...

The Dom way round: Montenegro. Land of the black mountains. Who'd have thought?

http://thedomwayround.blogspot.com/2015/08/montenegro-land-of-black-mountains-who.html

The Dom way round. Saturday, 1 August 2015. Montenegro. Land of the black mountains. Whod have thought? Anyway, that all took 15 minutes and by the time I got back to the border to pick up my passport which they had kept, the queue had all gone! I then rode out of hell. Montenegro was starting to impress me. Then I headed north. First down to sea level and the very hot capital ( Go on see if you know the capital of Montenegro) and up and out via an amazingly beautiful gorge northwards. I finished...Oh, a...

The Dom way round: August 2014

http://thedomwayround.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

The Dom way round. Tuesday, 26 August 2014. We had three days in Budapest and the place certainly grew on us. We arrived on a national holiday so the centre was buzzing with people. Quite a shock to the system as we hadn't really seen any crowds in Romania at all. We were there for Tracy's birthday and it was very decent of the city to set off 30 minutes of fireworks on our first evening to celebrate with us. You just can't keep a Drama teacher quiet. I've never seen Lenin as a kind of Buddha before.

Jill and David and Travels with Nancy. The difference between a dream and a plan is a departure date. Saturday, July 31, 2010. We were going straight to Salem after the rally to get new tyres but the BMW Garage was closed on a Mondays so that gave us the opportunity to visit Crater Lake. We drove along the 58 to Oakridge where we were going to take a scenic Forestry road that connected to the 126. Gertie the GPS was sending us on a straight line course up a dirt track ( and David followed it! And we are ...

Jill and David and Travels with Nancy. The difference between a dream and a plan is a departure date. Monday, January 31, 2011. So before you all start sending us money, let me say that we are not destitute, and although this is very unpleasant, isn't the end of the world or our trip. Two things I have learned so far from this experience. Apart from that life has been very relaxing in our Cabaña by the roaring ocean. We are off today (Monday 31/1/11) towards Guatamala to take up our 2 weeks of intens...

Jill and David and Travels with Nancy. The difference between a dream and a plan is a departure date. Monday, November 29, 2010. Playa Los Nananjos 25/11/10. Our first morning in our cabaña on the beach. It isn't luxury by some standards, but we quickly warmed to its shabby ramshackledness. We had a couple of small beds, table and chairs. A cooker, some storage (check out the cupboards! Sink with running cold water, a flushing loo and cold shower. So we can lift them for great sea views. Some of which ar...

We are currently in Zacatecas. Not sure where we will be for the New Year celebrations, watch this space. Lots of lovexx. Saturday, December 25, 2010. Right next to the Cathedral and main square. Where it seem everything was happening. Overlooking the Cathedral where Nancy had pride of place in the hall.

Saw us taking off before it got too hot, to Arches National Park. With our first stop at the visitor centre, to gather some information but also to fill up with water. Jill and David and Travels with Nancy. The difference between a dream and a plan is a departure date. Thursday, May 20, 2010. Saturday 15th May 2010. After a rare sunny day, and approx 230 miles, riding gently along the south shore, from Halifax, through some very pretty coastal villages such as Lunenburg. The home of the Bluenose Schooner. B&B in Yarmouth courtesy of our hosts Twyla and Bruce. A quick tour around the rooms on offer and we, or should I say I, chose the Queen four-poster bed. Night time i...
