https://thedroolingvegetable.wordpress.com/2009/11/30/free-just-send-a-stamped-addressed-envelope

A blog about growing stuff and eating it. November 30, 2009. Just send a stamped addressed envelope! Posted by thedroolingvegetable under Compost. Would make a lovely Christmas present for someone you love! I mean, what the? Who’d have thought it? Countless blogs on such controversial topics as the planting in the long border at Great Dixter. Or the right way to make aubergine dip. And barely a murmur of disagreement from the millions of regular correspondents. I hear you, sister! And despite all of the ...

A blog about growing stuff and eating it. December 21, 2009. A little ray of sunshine. Posted by thedroolingvegetable under Garden visits. Tags: Chelsea Physic Garden. It’s bloody freezing outside. The snow melted and froze into ice, and then it snowed on top of the ice, which melted a bit, and now it’s freezing outside. Not good. Time then, for a little ray of sunshine. And a discovery that in the States the swede is known as Rutabaga. The winner, though, is Amy. It’s 8 to get in, which when you cost it...

A blog about growing stuff and eating it. January 17, 2010. All good things must come to an end. Posted by thedroolingvegetable under Uncategorized. Ah, the new year. A time for contemplation, setting of targets, new goals to aspire to. A time too for review and change. Dear reader, I couldn’t quite pull my finger out and summon up the energy to tap out a few words about the vegetables that happened to be on my mind at the time. I’m ashamed to say that I found the idea a bit of a drag. This is not a good...

Cavolo Nero: cabbage sounds better in Italian | The drooling vegetable

https://thedroolingvegetable.wordpress.com/2009/12/06/cavolo-nero-cabbage-sounds-better-in-italian

A blog about growing stuff and eating it. December 6, 2009. Cavolo Nero: cabbage sounds better in Italian. Posted by thedroolingvegetable under Cabbage. It’s grim out there. A rainy, windswept tundra. There’s not a lot growing on the allotment at the moment, and what’s more it’s months before I even get to plant most of my next crops, let alone eat them. Like I say, Italian. Still, it tastes delicious. Before I give you the recipe below, modesty compels me to add a little caveat. The pasta sauce ...Cook ...

I Can Grow It: Red apples

http://icangrowit.blogspot.com/2011/09/red-apples.html

I Can Grow It. This blog is a record of my allotment site and how I am getting along. Friday, 2 September 2011. Our little apple tree has done us proud this year. Snow White couldn't resist these beauties could she? The kids have been going out and picking their own apples off the tree. It's nice to watch. Our green apples aren't doing so well, but there's still quite a good crop, they are just quite small so I think they'll go into pies or for crumbles. Why not with the beans for a change? My greenhouse...

I Can Grow It. This blog is a record of my allotment site and how I am getting along. Sunday, 19 February 2012. Here are some pictures from a visit to Kew. This is the palm house, a beautiful Victorian building that takes your breath away at any time, but especially when the sun is setting behind it. You can walk up an iron staircase and walk along the top of the palm house and look down on their amazing collection of palms and tropical plants. Gardens is a nice place to watch the sun go down. Reads Allotment Retreat - Plot's 81,83, and 87. Growing our own Fruit and Veg on 3 allotments! Saturday, 17 April 2010. Welcome back to Reads Allotment Retreat. Slow but steady progress is now being made on the plot. It's hard to work slowly when there's stacks to do, but that's the way it has to be. I saw a Consultant at the hospital last week, who confirmed that my MRI scan from the week before reveals a Lateral Disk Prolapse at C5/C6. We managed (with a little help! Sadly the Victoria Plum tree never ...
