The Eclectic Mom: Competition: The Hope for the Future or the Scourge of a Generation?

http://theeclecticmom.blogspot.com/2009/04/competition-hope-for-future-or-scourge.html

Musings from an eclectic life . sometimes amusing, sometimes inspiring, sometimes challenging. Always filled with love and learning and enthusiasm. Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Competition: The Hope for the Future or the Scourge of a Generation? Is competition good or bad? Ask the coach of a Big 12 football team or an older-generation professor from a high-powered university, and you'd probably get a resounding "Good, obviously! Or maybe even "Essential! If my efforts aren't recognized, why try? Clearly, a...

The Eclectic Mom: Great Expectations

http://theeclecticmom.blogspot.com/2009/04/great-expectations.html

Musings from an eclectic life . sometimes amusing, sometimes inspiring, sometimes challenging. Always filled with love and learning and enthusiasm. Thursday, April 30, 2009. I once knew the perfect mother. She was amazing. She absolutely beamed the glory of motherhood. Her children clustered around her, happily playing and singing, simultaneously gleefully independent and decidedly attached. Then something happened that changed all that. She had her first baby. This first baby was not just any baby, but ...

The Eclectic Mom: Day 14--Group Decisions

http://theeclecticmom.blogspot.com/2011/12/day-14-group-decisions.html

Musings from an eclectic life . sometimes amusing, sometimes inspiring, sometimes challenging. Always filled with love and learning and enthusiasm. Thursday, December 15, 2011. Day 14- Group Decisions. One of my least favorite things about making group decisions is that rarely is there any one person who's completely happy. Posted by Eclectic Mama. December 16, 2011 at 9:48 PM. But I thought Friday Co-op was done for the semester ? Just kidding. Mostly. ;-) (Dont hate me.). December 18, 2011 at 12:12 AM.

Anticipation | Todays Thought

https://erasundar.wordpress.com/2011/01/29/anticipation

Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:27 pm. It was early evening and I was tired. Waiting until the last minute to get ready, my desire to stay home increased with each passing moment. In the bright lights of the bathroom, I brushed my teeth to a minty shine, washed the cares of the world away in a steamy shower, and decorated my person. With chic boots in place, the transformation of body and mind was complete. I was eager to go. Entry filed under: Miscellaneous Stuff. 8 Comments Add your own. You disappear...

Because I’m a Patron of the Arts… | Todays Thought

https://erasundar.wordpress.com/2010/03/22/because-im-a-patron-of-the-arts

Because I’m a Patron of the Arts…. Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:13 am. During spring break the kids and I spent some time in the great outdoors soaking up the beautiful sunshine, accumulating vitamin D, and plucking, digging, and chucking giant weeds. But how does this make me a patron of the arts? Pay close attention, this explanation is even more convoluted than usual. Here was the landscape before. Notice the dead shrubs and half of a stop sign . Before there were lots of weeds… and weird shadows.

My Questionable Parenting Skills | Todays Thought

https://erasundar.wordpress.com/2010/03/10/my-questionable-parenting-skills

My Questionable Parenting Skills. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 12:00 am. After years of inept parenting, deplorable habits, abject laziness, and indulgence in mind rotting television, I have decided to take a parenting class to see if I can undo years of incompetence. I mean, they ‘ve got a couple more years before they graduate and leave home. It’s not too late, is it? Keep it down so I can hear what’s going on! Her routine.”. Weird expressions crossed their faces and they shared quizzical glances befor...

Sheikra | Todays Thought

https://erasundar.wordpress.com/2009/04/16/sheikra

Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 2:00 am. Now I’m not the biggest roller coaster fan in the world. I have pretty much convinced myself that I’m too old to go whipping through the air and careening towards the earth at high speeds simply for the fun of it. Nonetheless, there are a few things that I am willing to try at least once in my lifetime. While at Bush Gardens in Tampa, our cousins insisted that Hubby and I explore the big rides while they kept the kids company on the smaller ones. Wow! As the line prog...

Seriously, Where Can I Rent a Mongoose? Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 12:00 am. Inhale deeply. Enjoy the fresh air. Nature in all of its glory… ummm, what’s that creepy looking thing over there? During the first week of staying in our new home, my oldest daughter ran in through the back door yelling “SNAKE! 8221; Of course, without asking if she’d been bitten, I yelled ” close the door behind you! 8221; Don’t worry, she was just fine. But how come no one closes the door behind them? From the finger where...

Spring Has Sprung | Todays Thought

https://erasundar.wordpress.com/2010/03/15/spring-has-sprung

Monday, March 15, 2010 at 12:00 am. Spring has sprung here in Austin. The signs are everywhere. The birds are getting really noisy. Although the grass is still dead, ground covering weeds are sprouting flowers everywhere. My shoe is in the shot to show how small most of the flowers are. Wildflowers are getting in on the action. Is wildflower a euphemism for weed? The trees are budding. For now, I’ll just enjoy the flowers. Now that I’ve seen my shadow, does this mean that winter is finally over? 20 Comme...

Happy Life-o-Versary! | Todays Thought

https://erasundar.wordpress.com/2010/03/13/happy-life-o-versary

Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 12:00 am. Milestones come and milestones go. Sunday March 7, 2010 marked the one year anniversary of this blog and today marks another milestone… My Birthday! At 10 years old I hit the big 1-O, double digits. And several years ago the advanced age of “the big don’t tell-O” rolled around. (I figured it made more sense to call it that than to pretend to be 29 for the rest of my life😉 ). Share some virtual birthday cake with me! I guess it’s finally time for me to grow up. Happy...

Going with whatever works at the moment! Once upon a time, I took an art class in high school. It may have been the only class that I enjoyed in high school. I loved the art class and turned out some descent looking things. It was great for me. Fast forward to college and my Art History class. If I had ever thought about paying someone to take a class for me, this would have been the one! September 19, 2013. Homeschooling with 5 kids. Jelly Belly field trip! Then the girls and I get going.
