Scaredy Horse | The Edge of Nowhere
https://theedgeofnowhere.wordpress.com/2011/07/08/scaredy-horse
The Edge of Nowhere. The man, the pigs, the blog, the island. It just doesn’t feel right →. July 8, 2011. Krummi the pony is one of nature’s nice guys and an occasional visitor to the pig farm where he gets on like a house on fire with Teddy and Merlin. But poor old Krummi has, up to now, had a terrible problem. . . at least, it’s a problem if you visit a pig farm. He was scared of pigs. However, they are a very cheerful, friendly bunch and Krummi soon wandered over to the fence to investigate or –...

The Edge of Nowhere. The man, the pigs, the blog, the island. Newer posts →. St Patrick’s Day. March 17, 2011. I watched the lifeless, dark brown liquid slurp into the glass and tried not to think “Jeyes Fluid”. The glass was set onto a disc on which a small amount of water had been poured. A button was pressed and it was like the advert, all swirling, foaming and Guinnessy. A trip to Dublin or New York? Of course I’ll think about my 83-year-old Dublin-born mum, currently driving back to Devon afte...

The Edge of Nowhere. The man, the pigs, the blog, the island. Monthly Archives: January 2011. January 28, 2011. The heavy snow that hung around for what seemed like ages wasn’t bad news for everyone. The problem with relying on electric fencing is that more intelligent animals quickly work out when the power is off and Alfie, our young … Continue reading →. In the bleak midwinter. The Edge of Nowhere. The man, the pigs, the blog, the island. When Alfie met Molly. May 26, 2011. The old fella stirred sleepily in his basket as the pig farmer reminded him it was gone 11 and chucking out time. He showed no signs of wanting to wake up properly, let alone be turfed out of the kitchen into a draughty barn. And that was the last time I saw Trevor. Even more determinedly independent than most cats, Trevor became a family favourite very quickly, doing exactly what he wanted, when he wanted.

The Edge of Nowhere. The man, the pigs, the blog, the island. The man, the pigs, the blog, the island. 8220;For some 46-year-olds, a mid-life crisis involves a sports car, a 20-year-old girlfriend and a sudden interest in hair gel. For me it was giving up sports writing in the West Midlands and becoming a sort-of pig farmer on the Orkney island of Westray (just off the north coast of Scotland). Here I’m looking after pigs, chickens and my sanity.”. The man, the pigs, the blog, the island. And there’...

POLES APART: A ramble about life in the frozen northern fringe of Europe, the warm, wine-soaked West of France and the soft southern hills of Andalucia. Sunday, 22 February 2015. Cranes in field below house, Sweden. (Not a good piccy). As it's almost March, I'd also expect the old Hoopoe/Hups (here in Froggoland) to arrive in the near future. We have a pair that nest in woodland surrounding the house/garden. Always a pleasure to hear their call and see them pecking in the garden:. Sunday, 15 February 2015.

The View From Macy. Posted on 11:16 - by Macy. For the record, I am travelling through to Glasgow on a daily basis; headed for either the Western Infirmary or my mother's house - and on high days and special holidays from work I do both! You know how folk talk about getting out more or how they'd love to travel? Yeah Be careful what you wish for. Normal service as soon as. Because I can't keep on like this. Links to this post. The View From Macy. How to Clear Out a Dead Man's Flat. Posted on 07:00 - by Macy. Well I put it to the vote, and it turns out that the "binned" post the majority wanted to read was this one. I was surprised, and, checking on my statcounter, the vote seems to have been swung by some last minute voting from those who have not commented.so in a way the Silent Majority has spoken. Here goes. Ten hints for clearing out after the dead. Hint 2 Mind you, having said there's no rush, don't leave clearing out til...

The View From Macy. Posted on 09:11 - by Macy. In: The Day job. It couldn't last could it? Sick leave, taking it easy, watching the neighbours mow my lawn, wee day trips out, unlimited access to the XBox. My recovery is well under way, and on Thursday it was time for a Phased Return to work. It wasn't all bad. For a start I'm only in mornings for the first couple of weeks. And the first couple of mornings were spent catching up with people - the girls. In finance, the boys. They've all been supernice.

What does everyone know about Accrington that I don't? 28% of you fell into the trap of thinking it must be Helmithdale. Tsk As if I'd be that obvious. And with this fringe?

The View From Macy. A letter to the Wishes Fairy. Posted on 10:48 - by Macy. Its all about me. I'll cut to the chase. I've been having this problem with keeping my blog up to date. It's not just a sloth thing, it's a things changing so fast lately thing. Look one minute I'm in London, stumbling on the Avengers European Premiere by accident. That was me. Can you see the problem here? A wee dissonance in tone, non? What do you think? PS I've been good. With best wishes for the future. Links to this post.

POLES APART: A ramble about life in the frozen northern fringe of Europe, the warm, wine-soaked West of France and the soft southern hills of Andalucia. Sunday, 31 March 2013. Death Don't Have No Mercy. Not sure that Sal is particularly impressed with the sleeping arrangements here:. Today we had a cold start, around zero, but now bright and sunny. Positively printemps! Yesterday we had freezing rain and the day before I woke to snow covered landscape! Certainly not normal for here at this time of year!

The View From Macy. Notes I wrote in Naples #1. Posted on 20:59 - by Macy. And I'm sat on the bus from the airport doing some rough calculations It's nearly 15 years since I last landed in Italy. Last time it was in Sicily. I was with Wayne and we had an 18 month old cherub in tow. We landed in Palermo Sicily; our plane had been delayed, our luggage had got lost and we were driving a rented car through the rush hour traffic. I was fretting about the nappy situation. But the Cherub was a joy. You really c...

The Edge of Nowhere. Everyday happenings in the Far North. Sunday, 23 January 2011. We're moving. . . Not us - we're happy and staying put - but the blog is packing its meagre belongings in a red and white spotted hanky and moving to pastures new. Edge of Never - Bill Kerig
Welcome to The Edge of Never. The Edge of Never is a nonfiction book that follows the story of a young man, Kye Petersen, who travels to Chamonix, France, to ski the route that killed his famous, big-mountain skiing father, Trevor Petersen. It’s told by a has-been pro skier. Who joins forces with the late ABC News anchorman, Peter Jennings, to make a documentary film about the event. I set out to write a book that would stay true to mountain culture while offering non-skiers a timeless, human tale.

The Edge of Nowhere. The man, the pigs, the blog, the island. It just doesn’t feel right. September 12, 2011. I’ve been reading some old posts over at the old site for the blog and I’ve come to a conclusion: I’m moving back. Sorry, but the WordPress site leaves me cold somehow. I still can’t find my way around it, haven’t worked out how to do the simplest tasks like putting up links and the “Howdy” thing irritates me more than I expected. I may even get around to writing something. July 8, 2011. Now, tho...

Tiptoeing on the edge of obsession
I was going to post this sooner, but I have simply been too busy. You see, procrastination is my prevailing vice. Will I have fit in a trip to get my toes and nails buffed and polished? Will I have found time to wrap a box for cards to be placed in? It’s inevitable: I will procrastinate on something at some point, I am sure. Heather M. Felsch. Links to this post.
