The Long Island Project. June 10, 2015. It’s been quiet here, but I haven’t been slacking, I swear! Lots of energy and time is going into a new venture that I think you’ll like: Birdseed. Since March, I’ve been painting familiar birds each week, and posting them along with small natural histories. I figure everyone knows at least ten birds already, but the more the merrier! And I get plenty of painting practice while I’m at it! So if you like things like this:. Skip on over and check the rest of them out!

The Long Island Project. November 14, 2014. I received the book in the middle of a delicious August, and I was far from the right mood to read about ice and tundra in the last days of the summer I wanted to last forever. Well, actually I didn’t want to face the heartbreak of a historical Arctic not long past but gone. Continue reading →. In which i suggest some books. October 16, 2012. Education of a Naturalist. my life, rarely chronicled: August 2011
http://philopaideia.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
My life, rarely chronicled. Sunday, August 14, 2011. Back to the basics. I'm a huge sucker for 2 kinds of books (well, lots of kinds, but for story's sake, here we go): 1) old-school children's books, and 2) historical novels. Now, NOT the icky romance for $2 historical novels. But right now I'm reading Francine Rivers' Sons of Encouragement. It's actually 5 short books about men of the Bible. They're definitely historically-based, but the author has added fictional details that may. Back to the basics.

I do not want you to hate Mother’s Day and honestly, it’s uncharacteristic of me to throw the scantest of shade on a holiday that so heavily features breakfast foods. But lots of things have long made me uncomfortable about this day and I’m about to drop a load of elucidation in this bitch. I get this one day.
