Becky Lane - At a Crossroads: March 2013
http://beckylane-atacrossroads.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 22, 2013. Cake testing, bridal gowns, bridesmaids’ dresses, wedding venues – these are the plans that are underway for my son and his fiancée. In just six months, they will exchange their marriage vows. This is another path along my empty nester’s journey. I can’t help but look back at my little tow-headed tike and recall his quiet and playful spirit. Look at him now! All grown up and starting his own family. God help us at Family Talk to have a voice that speaks truth in love. I returned a...

Becky Lane - At a Crossroads: October 2012
http://beckylane-atacrossroads.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 25, 2012. There are days when I pinch myself and say, “Am I really a part of this? I think I’ve said before that I feel so honored to be a part of the ministry of Family Talk and to get to work with Dr. Dobson. Especially after my children left home, it has been an amazing blessing to have a job that is fulfilling and allows me to make a difference. Check out the photos of some of the work that’s been done this week. I’d love to hear from you. Friday, October 19, 2012. My heart sank to ...

Becky Lane - At a Crossroads: August 2012
http://beckylane-atacrossroads.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 30, 2012. I'm usually impatient about this step and actually have a hard time finding something to do in the shower while I'm waiting for the conditioner to do its magic. Well, after the shower comes the multi-step process of moussing and curl enhancing, not to mention the finishing spray. By this time and with all these products, you'd think I look like a wild woman. The goal, however, is just the opposite! Quite a daily operation, isn't it? 2 Taking shortcuts, like prematurely rinsing ...

The Wisdom of a Pediatrician. The Heart of a Mother.: December 2013

December 12, 2013. Turn Those Christmas Blues to Gold. What is it about Christmas that makes us so sad? I was speaking with a priest recently when I went to EWTN to film Life on the Rock. Father Mark looked at me after half an hour and said, “With so much pain and sadness out there, how do you stay so hopeful? 8221; I simply looked at the cross on his wall and pointed to it. 8220;Easy,” I said. “We win.”. Becky Lane - At a Crossroads: A Tea Time Thought
http://beckylane-atacrossroads.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-tea-time-thought.html
Thursday, June 6, 2013. A Tea Time Thought. I have several beautiful teacups. Most of them were given to me as gifts from treasured friends. Each of those teacups and saucers are unique in design, color and size. I also have a set of teacups that is part of the china I chose almost 35 years ago now. That set is delicate and lovely and makes a stunning presentation on a table because of their uniformity. But I absolutely love variety! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). God Can Change Me.

April 17, 2013. The Boston Tragedy: How to Talk to Kids When Bad Things Happen. If your kids are in elementary school, I suggest doing the following:. Don’t wait until they come to you. Kids are listening to the television and to their friends talking so they are thinking about the bombings. Initiating discussion won’t put ideas or fears in their minds, talking them through will help alleviate their fears. Talk about good and bad. Give them something to do. If your Kids are in Junior High or High school:.

The Wisdom of a Pediatrician. The Heart of a Mother.: Bullies Run: Beth Maday Is On the Loose
http://drmegmeeker.blogspot.com/2013/11/bullies-run-beth-maday-is-on-loose.html
November 26, 2013. Bullies Run: Beth Maday Is On the Loose. Jeremy told me that he has never been so happy. The entire football team (with a history of being state champions) asked Jeremy to be their media person and he travels with them to all of their games. Beth Maday told me that seeing Jeremy at school is a real delight. “You can’t believe how much kids like Jeremy” she said. “They encourage him and look out for him.”. 8221; she queried. “Is someone giving you a hard time? Participate. One stude...

The Wisdom of a Pediatrician. The Heart of a Mother.: Does France Protect Their Girls better than we do? It appears so
http://drmegmeeker.blogspot.com/2013/10/does-france-protect-their-girls-better.html
October 29, 2013. Does France Protect Their Girls better than we do? The French Upper House of Parliament just voted to ban beauty pageants for girls younger than 16. The reason? My hat’s off to them. How is it that we, who champion equality between the sexes and pour millions every year to educate our children’s minds, keep these ridiculous pageants alive? First of all, is it morally acceptable to watch a small child on television in order to laugh at her? Are we so empty that we have resorted to findin...

The God Who Sees Me: May 2013
http://thegodwhoseesme.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
This time of year brings a heightened awareness of changes in our lives - especially the losses. We're facing: Separation after graduation, friends moving across the country, new jobs. We're experiencing that here in our tight-knit little Family Talk Broadcasting department right now, as in the past few weeks alone we've said goodbye to three key staff members - each of whom is moving on to embrace new family commitments. And in one short week, I'll join that group. Song of Solomon, chapter 2:. 8220;Forg...

The God Who Sees Me: September 2012

8220;What's So ‘BASIC’ About This Health Care? As the mother of four, I’ve personally had dozens of pre-and post-natal check-ups and hospital visits. Likewise, I’ve been to multiple doctors’ offices, ER facilities, labs and clinics with my children, and yes, even had to call 911 twice. In addition, my father is a retired orthopedic surgeon who was forced to relocate his practice and his family coast-to-coast because of skyrocketing medical malpractice insurance costs. Ironically, a 2008 study of women in...
