The Interloper Artist: May 2012

Friday, May 25, 2012. The New Frame Shop Header - DOESN'T WORK! Man-dog. Talk about being aggravated. Here I am, still up at the crack of dawn (someplace. here it's 1:15 am, but that didn't sound as dramatic) and I am so ticked because I have wasted two-plus hours fiddling with a new header for our frame shop website and the dumb thing won't ftp correctly. However, look at my little mother and my little grand-daughter. So, extremely beautiful. PS Now it's 1:23 am See: crack of dawn someplace else by now!

The Interloper Artist: Longmire, Gloria, King George and Dad
http://donnarobertsart.blogspot.com/2014/07/longmire-gloria-king-george-and-dad.html
Thursday, July 17, 2014. Longmire, Gloria, King George and Dad. Our front entry at the shop - my tribute. One evening I came home from another heat-festering and physically-demanding day at work, so tired I could barely stand to even stay alive. I was even too dirty to stay alive. Too tired. Too dirty. Too sweaty. Too discouraged. Too forgotten. Too mean. Dad and his old watches and knives. But on that particular day last August, as I looked upon those beautiful and quiet birds at my feet, I was mystifie...

The Interloper Artist: All Kinds of Paperwork
http://donnarobertsart.blogspot.com/2015/01/all-kinds-of-paperwork.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2015. All Kinds of Paperwork. Today was spent doing all kinds of paperwork that didn't involve artistic creativity in any way. The paperwork consisted of tax reporting and W2 forms and bank ledgers and invoices and then reworking our embarrassingly out of date website. A few of the "wings" centerpieces. One of the small "wings" centerpieces. This spring, we'll see how lazy and immature and wasteful I am. oh, how I hate being accountable! But my daughter Alicia. she'll be asking...

The Interloper Artist: Riding on the Clouds
http://donnarobertsart.blogspot.com/2014/03/riding-on-clouds.html
Friday, March 28, 2014. Riding on the Clouds. The window next to the design counter. Something happened this week at the shop. We're almost six months in our new location now and it seems that during most of that time it's been a harsh and hopeless winter. We trudged through a lot of desperate days in February and even into this month as it's continued to dip into merciless temperatures day-in and day-out. But yesterday we opened our windows and let the wind inside. One of the front windows at the shop.

Saturday, May 9, 2015. Old, Hard, Stiff, Uncompromising Clay. But that stupid shameless clay. it was old and harder than granite. The last time it had been used was when my daughter Ashley made a rabbit and gave it to my Father - probably six or seven years ago. And naturally, all my clay tools and the mechanical roller used for kneading were at home. Old Hard. Stiff. Uncompromising. All ripped and torn and crushed and smashed and dropped and then kneaded back together soft and useful. Links to this post.

The Interloper Artist: Mary: the Mother of God
http://donnarobertsart.blogspot.com/2014/08/mary-mother-of-god.html
Friday, August 29, 2014. Mary: the Mother of God. Wonder what sort of woman Mary was? Did God select her as the earthly mother of his son because she was so holy? So wise beyond her years? Was Jesus' mother a competent and worthy young woman? Was she masterful and talented at the things she tried to do? Was Mary a good cook? An able teacher and disciplinarian? Was Mary a good wife and did she make Joseph happy and proud? Did the load ever feel just too too heavy? Mary was chosen among all women of all ti...

The Interloper Artist: August 2012
http://donnarobertsart.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 10, 2012. I just read my daughter Alicia's blog post about Heaven. Like Alicia, I like to speculate about Heaven. I'm just about doggone certain that one of the things God also took away from us was flight. And you know what I think he did with it? But if all Heaven is, is a cleaned-up, sanitized, refreshed, colorized version of what we've already got down here. man, I don't think I'm very excited about it. Joe Beam talks about playing golf - GOLF! I want to see my Savior's face! In our dr...

The Interloper Artist: April 2012
http://donnarobertsart.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 25, 2012. We're waiting on a woman. I like that Brad Paisley song, especially the video with Andy Griffith, where he is waiting for his wife in the mall. Alicia waited for her second child, Lydia, for nine months. Well, maybe you could say Alicia waited for Lydia for twenty-five years. I don't know. My memories of Alicia at this age are sketchy at best. As someone who (apparently) has a strange, visual memory of literally thousands of intricate details from my childhood and past, thi...
