and then there were five: Zen and the Art of Housekeeping

http://thegiegengacks.blogspot.com/2010/09/zen-and-art-of-housekeeping.html

And then there were five. Friday, September 10, 2010. Zen and the Art of Housekeeping. As for me, I don't know if zen would help me not be anxious when I look out into our back yard and see weeds and massive shrub overgrowth taking over everywhere. Or when I walk through the playroom to get something out of the downstairs freezer and see every single lego we own covering the floor in a sea of disorganization. Is this discomfort with disorganization something that just comes on as women age? Recommendatio...

And then there were five. Thursday, January 20, 2011. Right now I have a million things that I really need to be dealing with. My kitchen is a horror show (since I cook for DOTP. I feel like I would just need to stay up all night in order to make it out the door with all of that done. January 20, 2011 at 9:47 AM. Not saying you should stop your dinner biz. BUT if you need to limit it or step back, go for it! Do whats best for your sanity, thats my best advice :). January 20, 2011 at 5:26 PM. Blogs I Like .

And then there were five. Saturday, January 15, 2011. A few months back, I realized that I was doing that with respect to my writing about Ruby and her adjustment, because people would constantly refer to all the "problems" I was having with her adjustment. They would ask, very sympathetically, how I was doing. Or where Gus "is getting really interested in reading! He keeps showing off by spelling the word "h-a-m" - so adorable! Or where we are so proud that Ruby "is totally on top of the whole potty-tra...

And then there were five. Sunday, August 29, 2010. Inhale, Exhale, Rinse, Repeat. I am so glad that tomorrow begins a new week. A week of first soccer practices, back to school nights, planning meetings, play dates, homework and trips to the grocery store. Those are good. In the meantime, here are some good recent pictures of our happy little troop of troublemakers. Gus' first day of Jr K - Ruby trying to go with him. Walking in the woods. August 31, 2010 at 6:21 PM. 26 Miles of Pain for Parkinson's: Bird on a Wire

http://aubreycalvin.blogspot.com/2010/01/bird-on-wire.html

26 Miles of Pain for Parkinson's. Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Bird on a Wire. Friends, we're down to the wire. Just 5 days from now we will lace up our shoes, say a little Hail Mary, and run the race. I can't claim that we've been perfect in our training program, but we've run a long, long way in the past six months to get ready. On Sunday, we each did our last long run - happily only six miles. 26 Miles of Pain for Parkinson's: Jingle Bells

http://aubreycalvin.blogspot.com/2009/12/jingle-bells.html

26 Miles of Pain for Parkinson's. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. We have been busy getting ready for Christmas, having family in town, and pounding the pavement. Our furthest run to date has been 17 miles - miserable - but we're looking forward to a 20 mile run this coming weekend. So, while you're relaxing in your pjs and playing with your Christmas presents, think of us out there running, and running, and running . I hope the season is wonderful for you and your family, and I'll let you know how it goes!

26 Miles of Pain for Parkinson's: Misery

http://aubreycalvin.blogspot.com/2009/12/misery.html

26 Miles of Pain for Parkinson's. Saturday, December 26, 2009. Anyway, we did finish, and if we walked a little, well, I am still counting it. We moved our bodies over a 20 mile path. We never hailed down a passing car for a lift, we never banged on the front door of the houses we were passing to beg for help, and I only gave in to defeating negativism half a dozen times. So overall, a major success. Brad, Carla, Addison and Hudson. December 27, 2009 at 6:20 PM. Congratulations on 20 miles! This year, Ma...

http://aubreycalvin.blogspot.com/2009/12/mistletoe-magic.html

26 Miles of Pain for Parkinson's. Sunday, December 6, 2009. So we both ran the whole thing and even felt pretty good afterwards. And then we pretty much spent the whole rest of the weekend on the couch napping (me) and icing achy joints (Matt). But I feel like we have our marathon mojo back and are getting excited for the actual race. Thanks so much for for all the kind words of encouragement - we need it! Wednesday, August 11, 2010. I just wanted to send out a THANK YOU to Chris's family for holding a fundraiser this Saturday for us. The are having a lunch in their backyard. Please pray for GREAT WEATHER! We have been waiting for the FBI clearance and I was thinking that we had our application in for a long time! The clearance can take up to 12 weeks. And I looked back and our application has only been in for 5 weeks! Seems like a lot longer than that. Please help us. We would really appreciate it! I have...

Saturday, March 12, 2011. I know I have said this before but how awesome it will be to tell our child all the love that people put into helping us bring them home! I know it will be a challenge to explain why we had to pay so much money but what a great way to explain that everyone loves them so much that they wanted to help. I will update how it went although I know it will be great! A Fall Day at Hanging Rock. And then there were five . And then there were six .

Thursday, February 3, 2011. Just wanted to update that we heard from the ABBA fund and we were blessed with a no interest loan that is a huge help toward the cost of the adoption. http://kabclb.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 22, 2011. I finally submitted our stuff for the online profile. It should take about 30 days or so to get it posted. When it is I will post on here if anyone would like to go to Gladney site or parent profiles.com to see it. Their names are Fran and Dan also Jason and Janet. Last little tidbit Gladney recieved the check from the ABBA fund so we are $5000.00 closer to paying for the adoption! The other cool things was that the check was written on Valentine's day:). Monday, September 27, 2010. A lot of work to be done. Well now that we are approved we have a lot of work to do. Not that I am complaining at all. The 2 most important things we need to do is get the profile done and complete our application for the ABBA fund. We also need to sign up for some classes. Infant CPR and Baby Care Basics. Not too excited about the baby care basics (I imagine a lot of pregnant women in the class do you think I will stand out? But it is a requirement so to class we will go.

Chad, Megan and Lucas. Monday, January 9, 2012. It's been so long since I've posted on this blog, I don't even know what to say about that. I learned over the Christmas holiday that I had some family followers that I had no idea I had. That, along with the inspiration from my friends, has motivated me to get back on the horse.or the wagon (however you want to look at it). I'm going to try to keep up. Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Friday, February 5, 2010. Where does the time go? Wow, has it really been 4 months? I feel like it was just yesterday that I sat down to write Drew’s eviction notice blog and already – here we are – 4 months later, living out a dream come true with the most perfect baby ever! OK, I know he’s not the MOST perfect…but he’s pretty darn close! I honestly don’t even know where to begin, so I guess I’ll just go back to Thursday, October 15th and start there! Drew’s heart tones were dropping every time th...
