The Global Kitchen: South African Springbok Kebabs with Monkey Gland Sauce

http://theglobalkitchen.blogspot.com/2010/08/south-african-springbok-kebabs-with.html

A Culinary Journey Around the World. South African Springbok Kebabs with Monkey Gland Sauce. Now before you wonder what I've been smoking, let me say there is no Springbok or monkey in this recipe. It's not like I can get that easily in Phoenix. I got this recipe from Steven Raichlen's Planet Barbecue! 309 Recipes, 60 Countries. Which is one of my new favorite cookbooks. Monkey Gland Sauce is just a traditional South African sweet and hot sauce. Probably named for shock value. You can leave a response.

The Global Kitchen: April 2010

http://theglobalkitchen.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

A Culinary Journey Around the World. This is David Chang's take on the Korean dish, Bo Ssam, which is traditionally steamed pork wrapped in a leaf and served with a condiment known as ssamjang and topped with kimchee. I've never had the dish but if it's anything like this it's seriously good! David Chang is the chef/owner of Momofuku, which is an award winning Asian restaurant in New York City. I was steered towards this recipe by Josie on her One Kitchen, Two dogs and a Girl. I also used store bought ki...

The Global Kitchen: June 2010

http://theglobalkitchen.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

A Culinary Journey Around the World. Crispy Fish Sandwich with Pineapple Slaw. Before I went on vacation I received a HUGE box from Nature's Pride Bread. Full of their new buns and rolls. I buy their bread so I was excited to get these. They aren't in my local grocery store yet but hopefully that will change. I think it's hard to find buns and rolls in the regular grocery store that don't have chemicals and the ones at the natural foods stores can be pretty expensive. 25 minutes Total Time:. Whisk mayonn...

Monthly Challenge: March 2012

http://monthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 30, 2012. Kale Salad With Roasted Chickpeas (again). Since someone raved and raved about this salad. Friday, March 23, 2012. I don't know if this counts as a green, but it was exciting to try something new. I picked up this banana pod at the Indian grocery store on a whim. It's sort of like an artichoke, except when you peel back the leaves, there are little groups of 10 blossoms. And those are what you eat. Thursday, March 22, 2012. Kale, Italian Style. Monthly Challenge: Pressure Cooker Easy Ziti With Sausage

http://monthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2013/02/pressure-cooker-easy-ziti-with-sausage.html

Sunday, February 24, 2013. Pressure Cooker Easy Ziti With Sausage. So, this pressure cooker is my dad's thing. It was only fitting that I use the pressure cooker to make him his birthday dinner. My dad is pretty suspicious of anything I made because I used to be (and sometimes still am) a "vay-gan". That's how he says it. At any rate, I thought a sausage pasta dish. Monthly Challenge: October 2012

http://monthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 5, 2012. Eggplant pesto (a little late for last month's challenge). It's very judgmental of me, but I generally try to avoid blogs with names like "FatFreeVegan.com." We only occasionally eat meat and often our meals our vegan, but something about a blog name like that makes also think that the recipes are also taste free. So for the challenge, I found one of the first pins I posted on Pinterest and whipped up some eggplant pesto. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Vivian's Lets Try These.

Monthly Challenge: January 2012

http://monthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 29, 2012. I do have a favorite pumpkin muffin recipe. I really like it and I think it is still my favorite. However, it was my turn, well, my son's turn, to bring snack and I had nothing to send. I did a quick search through my pantry and my recipes and decided to try this recipe. I would have made my usual one, but no eggs. Yay vegan recipes! Saturday, January 21, 2012. Salt Baked Potatoes from Cooks Illustrated. Then, my blog crush posted that she made these. Monthly Challenge: February 2012

http://monthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 29, 2012. 2 cans vegetable broth. 1 can diced tomatoes. 1 10-oz package frozen spinach. 1 package frozen or dried tortellini (I think my package was 19 oz-frozen). 1 can chickpeas, rinsed and drained. Salt and pepper, to taste. Parmesan cheese, for serving. We had veggie sandwiches to go along side. Here's a picture of our fixin's with our resident quality control expert. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Roasted Butternut Squash Soup. Then you make the soup and puree. One of the best thing...

Monthly Challenge: January 2013

http://monthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Our try at a sit down meal. I'll admit. We never set the table. Since we moved up to DC for only a year, I brought absolutely no serving pieces with me. Plus, I always make double portions of meals, so if I set it all out in front of me, I would easily eat double portions of everything. (More than I already do.). Regardless, we had a friend coming up to visit and I spent the morning making a Sri Lankan meal. From the top left clockwise, steamed basmati rice, seeni sambol. But t...

Monthly Challenge: February - Pressure Cooker

http://monthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2013/02/february-pressure-cooker.html

Saturday, February 9, 2013. February - Pressure Cooker. Ok, so this is 9 days late.sorry! But I did tell everyone last month that this month's challenge would be using a pressure cooker. Here's the backstory: My dad is a huge fan of the pressure cooker. Can you hear his slightly Alabaman accent "cook-ker"? THIS Christmas he could barely contain his glee."you are never going to guess what I got you! I think for half a second."is it a pressure cooker? My dad glares at me. I actually think I am wrong fo...

http://testdrivekitchen.blogspot.com/2011/04/hello-again-please-check-out-my-online.html

Monday, April 25, 2011. Please check out my online cooking show, "Karen's Kitchen Ambush" where I make healthy and delicious dinner for a family from the ingredients found in their pantry and fridge. I was very lucky that this family had a variety of fresh items. I was totally expecting ramen noodles and ketchup! Maybe next time. I hope you enjoy it:. Monthly Challenge: Pressure Cooker Parmesean Risotto

http://monthlychallenge.blogspot.com/2013/02/pressure-cooker-parmesean-risotto.html

Saturday, February 9, 2013. Pressure Cooker Parmesean Risotto. I am a huge fan of risotto. Huge. Love it. I don't make it, not because I don't like the constant stirring (I never did that anyways and it always turned out fine), but I stopped eating it because it was a simple carbohydrate. Apparently, we need more fiber. At any rate, I found this FREE recipe from Cooks Illustrated for a risotto. Then we locked the lid into place and allowed the pressure to build:. I made the kids back up!

The Global Kid

Post on October 4th, 2014. Posted in Adult Language Learning. I took a Spanish conversation class this summer through my local community college prior to departing for Spain. It started out ranging from 19 to 91 year-old students (heavy on the blue hairs). I know this, because we all recited our age in Spanish. It’s probably one of the few pieces of information the entire class can convey. By the last few sessions, we were down to five students. 8220;So, why are you taking Spanish, Carlos? 8220;Nope, eve...
