City Mouse/Country Mouse: August 2014
http://city-mouse-country-mouse.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 25 August 2014. A Tale of Two Balconies. This is the balcony at my city apartment. Unlike the deck at my country place, it is very small, up high, and looks out over a city street with cars and buildings and people walking by. I enjoy sitting in the sun on both balconies and appreciate their similarities and differences. I like to think that there are lovely simple pleasures like this no matter where we live! City Mouse/Country Mouse: January 2015

Tuesday, 20 January 2015. Coping With the Cold. It has been so cold for most of January, that I have sought things to cheer myself up and make this cold and dark month more endurable. One day, when I was walking through the Byward Market in Ottawa, I saw this cute little snowman that someone had built in a courtyard. He was so cheerful, he brightened my day. Another way I overcome the dreary cold is by buying myself a bright bouquet of flowers. Love the yellows and reds. Ahhh! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

City Mouse/Country Mouse: A Bit of Fun Saying Goodbye to February 2015
http://city-mouse-country-mouse.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-bit-of-fun-saying-goodbye-to-february.html
Thursday, 26 February 2015. A Bit of Fun Saying Goodbye to February 2015. My co-worker Heather and I drew nasty old man February on a couple of big pieces of paper and hung it on a wall in the hallway where lots of people could see it. Then other people wrote their comments to say goodbye. This is my colleague Aakelah giving her thoughts on what a yucky month it was. So - Goodbye February 2015, and good riddance. Hope we never see such a horrible month like this, ever again! 1 March 2015 at 18:20.

City Mouse/Country Mouse: Very Unusual Sighting in the City
http://city-mouse-country-mouse.blogspot.com/2015/02/very-unusual-sighting-in-city.html
Friday, 6 February 2015. Very Unusual Sighting in the City. So I took a picture and then looked up hawks to see what kind it is. I think it might be a Sharp-Shinned Hawk, or maybe a Broad-shouldered Hawk, or maybe.I am really not sure. Any ideas? Such a beautiful photo! 17 March 2015 at 18:48. City Mouse/Country Mouse: June 2014

Monday, 16 June 2014. An Installation in the Woods. Last Saturday, my friends Holly, Fran and I went for a walk in the woods in Voyageur Park. We planned to make an installation out of found materials somewhere along the walk. Our route took us along the edge of the river. It was very lovely in places. Holly and Fran foraged for more materials by the water. There was a lot of litter - pieces of broken glass, bottle caps, a fish hook. Everything got added to our installation. Happily, the sun ...Anyone wa...

City Mouse/Country Mouse: Spring Rituals
http://city-mouse-country-mouse.blogspot.com/2015/05/spring-rituals.html
Monday, 4 May 2015. Every year about this time, after all the snow is gone and the lovely warm weather returns, I engage in certain spring rituals. The first ritual involves dragging out my ancient geriatric lawnmower and wondering, "Will the poor old thing still work? Or will this be the year it refuses to go, and I have to say goodbye and get a new lawnmower? So I pulled it out last Saturday, filled it up with fuel, and gave its starting cord a couple of yanks. Lo and behold, it coughed into life!

City Mouse/Country Mouse: March 2014
http://city-mouse-country-mouse.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 30 March 2014. The first week of March, my sister Marilyn and I went on vacation to the Mayan Riviera area of Mexico. While we were there, we went on an expedition to Coba. Which is the site of some spectacular Mayan ruins. The highlight of the visit was seeing. Ixmoja, which is the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan peninsula. Here is yours truly standing in front of this pyramid prior to trying to climb it. It really is steep. There was a rope to hold on to, for climbing up or down.

City Mouse/Country Mouse: Long Ago and Far Away...
http://city-mouse-country-mouse.blogspot.com/2015/03/long-ago-and-far-away.html
Saturday, 28 March 2015. Long Ago and Far Away. Recently, I found this memento of a very happy time in my life. Several months after Peter and I began living together, we took a trip to Paris (I actually won. Opening the little paper folder, I found a real treat - two of my pictures and two of Peter's. I think the black and white picture of Peter was a Canadian Passport photo. Wow - we were so young. And I love the setup of our four pics in four little boxes. I hope you write about winning the trip.

City Mouse/Country Mouse: November 2014
http://city-mouse-country-mouse.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Monday, 24 November 2014. The Importance of Windows. When the cold weather comes, I find I spend a lot of time indoors. That's when I realize how important windows are, for expanding my view and seeing the world outside. This is one of the windows in my apartment in the city, and I really liked the pattern of the shadows on the glass. Sometimes I take pictures of the sunrise through a window, as I did one morning at my apartment in the city. It was such a beautiful start to the day. And sometimes I take ...

City Mouse/Country Mouse: Light Effects - City and Country
http://city-mouse-country-mouse.blogspot.com/2014/12/light-effects-city-and-country.html
Sunday, 14 December 2014. Light Effects - City and Country. When walking around the city recently, I have been finding wonderful light displays that have been installed to celebrate the season. Like this configuration of decorated trees in a little courtyard. They looked like strange creatures from outer space, or under the sea, waving their arms and dancing. The trees certainly make me think of underwater creatures. Wonderful colour in the country sunset. 16 December 2014 at 13:52.
