Penobscot Stone: October 2012
http://penobscotstone.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 21, 2012. I was struck immediately by the beauty of the place, however, and jumped at the opportunity to be a part of such a great restoration project. The owner came out with an old cigar box she had found in the attic when she bought the place, inside of which were some black and white photographs of the original structure. I wanted the job. Right up out of the little fountain-spout. Incredible! I can't wait to see it again in another fifty years, when the vines have grown back.

Penobscot Stone: Alas, the Unveiling!
http://penobscotstone.blogspot.com/2014/01/alas-unveiling.html
Monday, January 27, 2014. Alas, the Unveiling! I am texting you after I write this so you can check it out, because I don't even think you've seen it. Jan and Bob, thank you two so much for giving us the opportunity to create something really beautiful and original and a truly hulking piece of art that will outlast all of us and probably the next few World Wars. We love you guys! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Rockport, Me. 04856. View my complete profile. Alas, the Unveiling!

Penobscot Stone: December 2012
http://penobscotstone.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 28, 2012. Started the Endeavour brick job at the new 3 Crow Restaurant, owned by Josh, the current proprieter of 40 Paper in Camden. We are using original bricks from an old wall that was removed during the renovation to build a new brick facade along the northern wall, and maybe a pillar or two. The first step basically consisted of me hand-washing and removing excess mortar from 800 bricks. While Damon hung the Hardi-Backer. Labels: 3 Crow Restaurant. Thursday, December 27, 2012. The j...

Penobscot Stone: July 2012
http://penobscotstone.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Tom Potter of the Potter Building Company(207-595-3315), asked us to do a small landing patio at one of his jobsites a few weeks ago. Damon and I found some nice granite, Deer Isle, I believe; and we added a few cobbles in the corner to create a raised bed for planting. Friday, July 6, 2012. What Weighs More, A Pound Of Stone Or A Pound Of Junk. Swung by Irik's and got a few shots of the "Patio That Wouldn't Die". It's a hard one to shoot, as the bullets just seem to bounce off.

Penobscot Stone: November 2012
http://penobscotstone.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 29, 2012. It's been a few weeks since we finished up the patio at Bigelow Laboratories in Boothbay, and I'm finally getting around to posting the pics. This was another job that came down to us from Eric at E.M. Wood Construction, via the relentless Dan Ucci of Ledge Hill Creations. The material is a concrete paver made to resemble bluestone and the steps and banding are cut and thermalled granite. Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Rockport, Me. 04856.

Penobscot Stone: January 2013
http://penobscotstone.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 18, 2013. 3 Crows and 1200 Bricks. Finished up the brickwork at 3 Crow and everyone seemed satisfied with the results, including ourselves. It was a nice project and I hate to leave. I say it again and again, but it's always a pleasure working with Endeavour, with the Masseys, and Tom Potter and Donny. Looking forward to going back this weekend to address some floor drains. Penobscot Stone: November 2013

Thursday, November 7, 2013. Round Pond Chimney to the Sky. Definitely the tallest single structure of stone we have ever built, the mammoth fieldstone chimney we are currently ascending in Round Pond is a seriously impressive construct. Inside and out, the sheer size and number of stones give the smokestack a tangible gravity and presence that is only matched by the natural beauty of the rugged Maine coastline that sits in its shadow.
