Wednesday, January 2, 2013. What's On My Mind? Disclaimer: *This post is meant to be humorous and should not be perceived as an attack on any one individual or group.*. Let me start by saying, I love Facebook. It's a great way to connect with old friends, stay connected with current friends, and be a part of the day to day lives of loved ones both near and far. I revel in pictures of family members, enjoy the daily cartoons, and thrive on the political pages I follow. We all know the Braggart. My nose wo...

Saturday, December 14, 2013. A Christmas Party Favor! The first weekend in December I hosted a dinner party for a few of my close friends and their spouses. We had a fantastic appetizer dinner, a white elephant gift-exchange, loads of great conversation, and these cutesy little party favors I whipped up the day before:. Mens' party favors were born. They were a hit. One of the guys said, "I'm going to consume both of them on the drive home.". Simple, quick and easy! Saturday, December 14, 2013. Picture W...

Sunday, July 28, 2013. Another Montana family vacation has come and gone and once again, it didn't disappoint. Well, actually it did when my in-laws had to go home because my father in law pulled his back :(. We whiled away the hours splashing in the lake, eating delicious foods, and taking walks. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I'll keep my words to a minimum while trying to provide a brief description. Enjoy. My Autumn after a brisk swim in the lake. We caught a frog.and let it go! The Crawd...

Monday, May 26, 2014. We kicked off summer with our annual Memorial Day BBQ. We even had the pleasure of having 3 retired/former soldiers join us. Thanks Rob, Joel, and Eddie for serving our country and affording us the freedom to enjoy a great dinner with family, followed by s'mores in our fire pit! So fun to have Clare and Joel in town to join in on all the family get-togethers. Cayla, channeling Captain America, enjoying a s'more. Jocelyn in black and white. Swoon. Thank goodness for bubbles and balls...

Tuesday, January 7, 2014. I think every year I say it was the best Christmas ever. I simply love Christmas. It really IS the most wonderful time of the year. We spent the entire season with family and here are a. Zillion snapshots, capturing the fun. Mom loved her new laptop, and Dad was pretty jazzed about his big, powerful drill :). Yes, we made cotton candy on Christmas day - she was ecstatic. I missed the real deal, so I made them recreate this magical, sisterly hug for the photo :). My sweet Cayla&#...

Sunday, October 27, 2013. Struck Down, but Not Destroyed! It's a drizzly, cold, Sunday afternoon and my heart is heavy. I'm sad, frustrated, angry, and a million other adjectives I don't want to take the time to type. Being a christian isn't hard. Being a christian who wants to impact the Kingdom, is though. It's one of the toughest things I've ever undergone. The Lord doesn't promise us it will be easy. He promises us we will be blessed if we endure. Sunday, October 27, 2013. Tuesday, August 13, 2013. I've had this recipe in my file for quite some time, and finally last night I decided to try it. If you love caramel popcorn you will love this. It's sticky sweet and absolutely melts in your mouth. If you let it cool completely you can easily form popcorn balls. Enjoy! 1 C Brown Sugar. 1 C Karo Syrup. 1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk. Heat over medium-low until boiling. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring continually. Pour over popcorn until desired consistency is reached. Skip To My Lou.

Sunday, March 31, 2013. Family photo on Easter Sunday at Cory's parent's house! After an incredible worship service with our church family, we spent the afternoon with Cory's family. On Saturday the girls and I baked cookies for all the local cousins! We took a couple of plastic eggs and filled them with Chuck's treats. He loved them. Here he is on Easter morning, watching the girls open their eggs! Cayla's Easter basket and Vera Bradley backpack in Viva La Vera! For the wages of sin is death, but the fr...

Rachel's Writings: I'm BACK......with Pretzel Bites!

Saturday, May 3, 2014. I'm BACK.with Pretzel Bites! After a lengthy hiatus, I have returned. In short, my mom told me I needed to update my blog. It's not that I didn't have things to say, or pictures to share, it's just that I've been busy with life, and lazy with blogging. Hopefully that will be rectified with this post. I thought I'd ease back into things with a quick post about something I made. For years I've avoided making any type of bread that required yeast. Why? Amazingly Simple Pretzel Bites.

Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies! After staring at the giant chocolate chip cookies inside Safeway tonight, I decided I would be better served to go home and bake my own cookies. So I did! Using a standard chocolate chip cookie recipe (ok, I tweaked it a little), I added 1/4 cup cocoa powder (I think it was 1/4 - I just dumped), tiny semi-sweet chocolate chips (1/2 a bag), and mini Hershey's kisses (1/2 a bag). The results? Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies. 1/4 C cocoa powder. Growing...
