Conventicles – Secret Religious Meetings. May 12, 2015 Chichester. What was a conventicle? I really should have used this strangely evocative word in the description of the murder of Richard Habin in South Street, because it sums up precisely those meetings that he so enjoyed spying on! The Jamestown Opera House. May 30, 2011. Exterior of the Opera House. A few years after the Jamestown Opera House had stood vacant, a group of concerned citizens formed the Jamestown Area Historical Society (JAHS), with the main goal of restoring the opera house so it could be used again as a focal point for the community. Over the course of ten years, the JAHS raised and spent $400,000 on renovating the opera house, not counting the grants and volunteer time. Seating in the Auditorium. May 23, 2011.
