THE HORRORS OF IT ALL

Friday, August 7, 2015. Aka: There's Peril in Perfection! One silly story with two terrific titles, first presented in the September 1952 issue of Voodoo #3. And then later re-printed, re-titled, and slightly re-colored for the January 1954 issue of Voodoo #13. I've included both title panels from the splash pages for comparison. More BIG. News about the original VOODOO. Series coming soon from IDW / Yoe Books. Friday, August 07, 2015. Links to this post. Monday, August 3, 2015. And the Blood Ran Green.

THE HORRORS OF IT ALL: And the Blood Ran Green

http://thehorrorsofitall.blogspot.com/2015/08/and-blood-ran-green.html

Monday, August 3, 2015. And the Blood Ran Green. One more scary sci-fi story for you guys, and also from the cool 'n creepy, and somewhat overlooked 70's Spacestream. And like our last tale, we find yet another eerie alien infection turning a routine exploration mission into a total freakin' nightmare- this one adapted from "The Fear Planet". A really great story originally written by horror legend Robert Bloch. 1976) with atmospheric art by Nevio Zaccara. And a freaky painted cover from Kees Romer.

THE HORRORS OF IT ALL: Frankenstein and the Plant

http://thehorrorsofitall.blogspot.com/2015/05/frankenstein-and-plant.html

Friday, May 22, 2015. Frankenstein and the Plant. Awesome Arizona artistic, Layla. Is not only a fantastic drummer, cosplay costume creator, and tee shirt designer, she's also a top notch prop master. Check out this amazing Little Shop of Horrors. Inspired, and fully functioning venus flytrap (meaning the head moves up, down, and side to side, and the mouth opens and closes) that she recently constructed from scratch. For price quotes :) Seriously, she can make ANYTHING! Friday, May 22, 2015. Interesting...

THE HORRORS OF IT ALL: Chant of the Dead

http://thehorrorsofitall.blogspot.com/2008/12/chant-of-dead.html

Saturday, December 6, 2008. Chant of the Dead. Here’s a neat little horror murder mystery from the October 1952 issue of Strange Fantasy #2. And according to GCD. This tale appears to have possibly been reprinted a number of times in the silver age by Eerie Publications. 8230; although only one or two of the synopsises there seem to match, plus the page numbers vary. Anyone care to double check this for us? Thanks to Mike Howlett for the double check and the great scan of the original splash! Reason I as...

THE HORRORS OF IT ALL: Curse of the Fire-Bird

http://thehorrorsofitall.blogspot.com/2015/05/curse-of-fire-bird.html

Saturday, May 16, 2015. Curse of the Fire-Bird. THE HORRORS OF IT ALL. Rises from the ashes of a much needed vacation with a hot little curse to set your weird weekend on fire! The always slick, and exceptionally sexy bad girl art from Ace. Great, Lin Streeter,. Really turns up the hellacious heat on this one- from the January 1953 issue of The Beyond #18. Says the cover art is by Gene Colan. Saturday, May 16, 2015. J D La Rue 67. Lovely art.The story is a darn good one, too. My, what a silly comment!

Boom Pop!: September 2011

http://boom-pop.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 8, 2011. Cinema Redux: Putting on the Ritz. I have a passion for finding and photographing old and abandoned movie theaters. It is a subject I've been intending to feature here at Boom Pop! For quite some time. I have only recently started to actively pursue the matter, due in large part to the recent advances in technology as represented by Google Maps and its ever so resourceful street-view function. And Goliath and the Vampires. Inset photo from Digital Forsyth collection. The Cent...

Boom Pop!: March 2011

http://boom-pop.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 28, 2011. They have been a part of our popular culture for over seven decades; three energetic gnomes who are likely the most famous of cereal pitchmen. Snap! Were created by prolific and well known commercial artist Vernon Grant, who provided illustrations to countless books and magazines throughout much of the 20th century. He first created Snap! For Kellogg's in 1933. Crackle! Were added in 1939 as seen in the above vintage advertisement. Posted by Jeffrey Pepper. Friday, March 25, 2011.

Boom Pop!: $50,000 Guaranteed!

http://boom-pop.blogspot.com/2011/03/50000-guaranteed.html

Friday, March 11, 2011. The 1958 film It! The Terror from Beyond Space. Is a generally well regarded piece of science fiction cinema. It was the inspiration for Ridley Scott's original 1979 Alien. Film and has even been the basis for a new series of comic books in recent months. Its movie poster, pictured above, is a classic example of 1950s B-movie publicity. To quote: "$50,000 GUARANTEED BY A WORLD-RENOWNED INSURANCE COMPANY TO THE FIRST PERSON WHO CAN PROVE "IT" IS NOT ON MARS NOW! Welcome to Boom Pop!

Boom Pop!: Photo Retro! - The Central Hotel

http://boom-pop.blogspot.com/2011/09/photo-retro-central-hotel-in-leaksville.html

Monday, September 5, 2011. The Central Hotel occupied the upper floors of the John B. Ray Building in downtown Leaksville. Leaksville was one of three small towns that were combined to become the greater metropolitan area of Eden, located in central North Carolina just south of the Virginia border. Its now age-worn and broken neon sign could have been a set piece in a classic Hollywood film noir. Posted by Jeffrey Pepper. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Welcome to Boom Pop! Boom Pop!: August 2008

Sunday, August 31, 2008. Every town, city and suburban family with a plot of sunny, open space of suitable soil, or access to a community or allotment garden, can make an important contribution to our national food program and our war effort by growing a victory garden.". This year we need more food than ever before in history. We need it for our men at the battlefronts, and those in training. We need it to keep the folks at home healthy and strong. The entire national food situation will be tremendously...
