An American writer, a professor, and their 9-year-old son travel to Japan. Most of the medical advice about prickly heat is of pretty limited use — stay out of the heat being the main suggestion (along with frequent cool showers, etc.) There is something called “prickly heat powder” which doesn’t appear to be available in Japan (not that I didn’t try to explain it in halting Japanese to two pharmacists, pointing to my arms and using the Japanese words for rash (. Soda, baking soda used for cleaning).

THE HUNGRY BEE
One New Yorker's search for delicious food and culinary fun! November 17, 2014. HB Eats: Le Fond, Brooklyn. In Greenpoint, Brooklyn is a culinary dream come true for Chef Jake Eberle and I’m sure many of his diners, including me. I’ve been looking forward to Chef Jake opening a restaurant since the first time I sampled his delicious food back in 2008 (my pre-blogging days! Since then I’ve followed him and his exciting take on food to great restaurants such as The Lamb’s Club. I felt the same about the ve...

Monday, September 10, 2012. Locro-style' butternut squash with fresh rosemary.yum! So 'locro' is my all-time favorite Peruvian veggie stew made with butternut squash, potatoes, queso fresco, cream and spices. A bit sweet, a bit savory, 100% delicious. So tonight there was a piece of butternut squash looming in the bottom-most drawer of the fridge saying "cook me now or you will regret it! A piece of butternut squash, peeled and cubed small. A small onion, diced. Generous minced garlic (1 tablespoon or so).
The Hungry Belgian | …of great food, good friends and beer!
8230;of great food, good friends and beer! Mediterranean Chicken with Garlicky Yogurt Sauce. Raise your hand if you loathe moving? Moving is no pool party. Because I’m Belgian, and because I’m a professional event planner extraordinaire, we were packed and moved by 01st July, precisely 13 days post beachside apocalypse. Sans dope, Lance Armstrong! 8230; shall we say feral? The chicken re...

(The depressing long, cold Northeast winter hasn’t helped, either.). About using frozen corn! 1/2 cup diced celery (you can ...
