Thursday, June 29, 2006. Bicycle Tour of Colorado - Day 5 Day off in Telluride. Jen downloaded everyones photos to her camera, and we watched a slideshow of all the shots from the trip so far. Gondola ride back down over Telluride was stunning, with the town all lit up after dark. Posted by equipoise at 1:05 AM. Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. View my complete profile. Tuesday, December 07, 2004. Trip to video store = so much more. Anyway, this was my thought process when I took off on my bike (along with the thought that the weather has been relatively mild, so why not ride? This, my friends, is how a quick trip to the video store can turn into so much more. Note to Brian - I finally managed to find the strange grass rooftoop over by St Anthony Main again tonight, so we won't get lost next time we try to find it! Posted by equipoise at 11:26 PM. Tuesday, November 09, 2004. Posted by equipoise at 9:45 PM. Do I deliver what they pay me for? I was supposed to go to a movie with Paul tonight, but then I got a call saying I was accepted to participate in a focus group I had applied for last week. The pay was $55 for an hour of participation - not too shabby, especially when you toss in the 2 sodas, granola bar, and M&Ms I scarfed down while I was there. But you know what - I'm. Fine with this, because I have a special little disdainful place in my he...

Thursday, November 18, 2004. My butt is cold. Posted by equipoise at 9:57 PM. About 2am last night, I was awoken by a loud crash, much like breaking glass. I lay awake for a few moments, thinking "hey, that sounded like it was in the building, but what would make a sound like that? Perp was borderline incoherent, he didn't know what they were talking about. Now, this could have been either alcohol, or a concussion, or who knows, maybe both? The irony is that I had just gone out to dinner with my friend J...

Den of Awkwardness: 05/01/2005 - 06/01/2005

http://denofawkwardness.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Wind: never at our back almost always a direct headwind. Gave my bike a boost as I trudged up the incline. At one point, the cry of "Hole" came too late, only to be followed by thumping and the simultaneous hissing of air and "Shit! 46 Miles, post critical mass. But then we got on the limestone Illinois and Michigan Canal State Trail and took off. We rode basically in one or two clumps, two abreast for many (25? Scooters and mini-bikes. What. The. Fuck. People had fucking TVs!

Tuesday, October 24, 2006. Stabled Mounts; CTA; 911: I Wonder if He will Run me Over? Friday night was the University of Illinois Chicago annual bicycle scavenger hunt. Jonathan, his brother Ben and I were a team. Based on the format last year, I didn’t expect to be competitive (lots of ‘clues’ that were more befuddling than enlightening). We heard a rumor that cargo capacity would be damn helpful, so Ben brought a 6’ fresh air trailer, and I took the Bianchi with his rack and biggest panniers. Anyway, b...

Den of Awkwardness: Blood Donation

http://denofawkwardness.blogspot.com/2006/06/blood-donation.html

Wednesday, June 28, 2006. I had to leave my friends at the Farmers’ Market early in the morning for an appointment to donate blood. On the way downtown it started raining buckets. This route takes me through the most tourist/yuppie/cabbie infested part of town and is no fun to get through. Today though, the drivers were very nice and gave me my space. Sympathetic because of the rain possibly? Whatever the reason is was very nice to not have impatient drivers in addition to my sogginess. Down here in Aust...

Wednesday, July 19, 2006. Today we released our report on Police Brutality in Chicago. This is the project that I have spent the most time on at my job. Check your newspaper for more information. The final report is new to me also - so now I get to paw through it to find the passages that I wrote. In other news, I have been super busy. The last several weekends have been spent out of town:. Wednesday, June 29, 2005. I have never been good at ignoring itches: I simply must scratch. I have a few chicken-pox scars from kindergarten because I scratched them. Mosquito bites also must be scratched until my skin is red and the bites have swelled many times their original size. The rash/saddle soreness caused by my underpant band on my sitbones is healing nicely. This is good- except for the fact that it itches like crazy. I've been scratching my ass all day. Den of Awkwardness: Happy Birthday Jonathan!

http://denofawkwardness.blogspot.com/2006/10/happy-birthday-jonathan.html

Tuesday, October 17, 2006. I officially became a Board Member of Chicago's bike advocacy group last week. I haven't even ridden past the disabled Dork Bike - I must stop being lazy and get her home soon! I'm feeling more comfortable on the Julep - enough so that I rode her home from work in high heels twice last week. She needs some maintenance, though - her tires are mushy and there is a creaky/crunchy noise coming from bottom bracket/drive train. I hate my job and have been having bad dreams about it.

Monday, October 02, 2006. A requested Update.the Julep Rides Again. Life has been busy.work still sucks.and time marches onward. This Sunday I was pretty productive I did ALL of my laundry and consequently cleaned up my hellpit of a bedroom. There not only is a floor now, but it is also swept and clean. Then I stripped my fading basil plants of most of their leaves and made my winter supply of pesto. On Sunday, Jonathan and I wrestled with the flat tire and finally got it fixed. Wednesday, October 04, 2006. BUT, it is also marks the second year anniversary of being a full-fledged, year-round, Chicago bike commuter. Yeah! In the summer of 2001, I began bike commuting from Uptown, Minneapolis to downtown St. Paul. However, two years ago was when I started my first job in Chicago and had my first commute in Chicago (the half-mile walk to law school doesn’t count as a ‘commute’). I can’t wait to see what changes the next two years bring! Posted by jojo @ 1:49 PM. Bike Dance. Boat.
