Friday, August 26, 2011. As some of you may already know, Ruxson passed away on Saturday August 13, 2011. Earlier that week they attempted to extubate Ruxson, and after 2 hours or so, had to re-intubate him as it was unsuccessful and he was working harder than they would like him to. He recovered from those exhausting few hours and was back to normal! We both got to hold him in his final week after over a month of not being able to. He was also all about Mommy and Daddy which was a wonderful feeling!

Sunday, May 8, 2011. Today was a great Mother's Day. We were both able to try the Kangaroo Care. With Ruxson. It was quite wonderful! He was getting upset with being moved around to get to that point, but as soon as his ear was laid on my heart, and the warmth from me calmed him down quite quickly. My parents, Kurt's mom, and my grandparents came to the hospital to visit with Ruxson and we had lunch in the cafeteria. Ruxson, Sasha, and Kurt. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saturday, June 4, 2011. Yesterday Ruxson was taken off of the ventilator shortly after 2 pm! So far he has been transitioning well and the doctors will continue to keep their eye on him! Wish him luck that he goes through this process successfully as there is still a possibility he may not be ready to be off of the ventilator yet! Ruxson, Sasha, and Kurt. Saturday, July 9, 2011. A whole different world. Here is a diagram of how the ECMO works. Kurt and I finally stumbled upon this and decided its best instead of an actually picture, there were also some videos that we stopped watching just in time. Who knew you could put a video liek that up on youtube. You can further research this amazing machine if you want, just beware that some of the things you will stumble across are very graphic. Thursday, May 5, 2011. Ruxson turns 1 week old today! For the occasion, we decided to stop at Build-A-Bear Workshop in search for a giraffe! They don't have any, so we stuffed him a panda and named him Paul! I stepped on the pedal to fill the panda, and Daddy put the heart in him! We also got the "I Love You" sound put in, and a blue bow to boot! Make sure if you go to Build-A-Bear to donate $1! It helps out March of Dimes and they also do things for preemies! He also got the IV taken out of his head!
