Two locomotives, one from each of the railroad companies that undertook this engineering feat, face off at Promontory Point, Utah. From the Union Pacific Company, which commenced its work on the railroad near Omaha, Nebraska - the Jupiter . From the Central Pacific, which started its work near Sacramento, California - Engine 119. Promontory Point, Utah. Wow, this is fun! A piece of the original iron track.

Two and a half hours of sheer fun, and a wee bit of terror! The train runs through the beautiful San Juan mountains with breathtaking views of the Animas Canyon below. The engineer readies the engine for our departure. Our narrator for the journey who regaled us with tales of the good old days on the railway. WE DO FUN STUFF!

Thanks to Frank's telescopic lens, we got two bears in one picture, and no need for bear spray. A curious prairie dog poses for a picture. Hope an eagle didn't spot him afterwards. Hard to capture with a camera, but Frank got this killdeer. Bison by the roadside. In the Rearview Mirror - starring a pair of bison. At least he was on the right side of the street.
