Tuesday, July 5, 2011. I can't believe she was ever this small. Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Every once in a blue moon, I get the itch to write on my blog. Maybe someday when I'm not such a young wipper-snapper and I have more of a routine and simple life I will find the serenity to actually sit and write, and think over things more thoroughly. The first step was to cut a bunch of long scalloped strips, gather them up and just start stitching them onto round pieces of felt for the petals. This is Adelaide, wh...

The kate trait: February 2010

http://thekatetrait.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 16, 2010. I kept noticing the empty little bird feeder on my back deck, and how little sparrows would fly up to it in hopes of food, then fly away quickly after finding nothing. It made me so sad! It has also been lovely observing so many different kinds of birds. Here are some photos to enjoy! Karen stringing up or bird treats. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Monday, January 18, 2010. Painting the Roses Red. Just a simple project I did the other day - I had this awesome cutout picture frame, that I loved in white, but I needed a little more spice, so painted it red, and I love it even more now! As my grandmother says about photographs, "Why would you want black and white, when you could have color? She is a very wise woman. . Sunday, January 17, 2010. It had this fantastic bow in the back. The kate trait: The Elijah School

http://thekatetrait.blogspot.com/2010/01/elijah-school.html

Sunday, January 17, 2010. We decided to remake garments that we had found in the back of our closets or Salvation Army into pieces we would actually love and wear. Here is what we did:. Beth's dress was a floor length Jessica McClintock that she found at Salvation Army that we turned into a little party dress! It had this fantastic bow in the back. And Jenny's was a very stretchy purple dress when we began, and she ended up using the bottom of Beth's skirt to make a skirt of her own!

stories from my brain: One Year In

http://imaginedworld.blogspot.com/2010/05/one-year-in.html

Stories from my brain. Tales of a misplaced Marylander/Chicagoan from the halls of 5th grade Houston, TX and beyond. Thursday, May 20, 2010. I've lived in Texas for a whole year! So far I've only. Dented my car door with the neighbor's truck. Knocked off my front bumper. Been yelled at by one parent. Been hit on by 1 man over the age of 60. Eaten fried pickles and crawfish twice. Recorded one country record. Said "might could" once. Wore an Aggie class ring once. Ridden in the back of a pickup truck once.

Stories from my brain. Tales of a misplaced Marylander/Chicagoan from the halls of 5th grade Houston, TX and beyond. Thursday, December 23, 2010. Here are some shots of all of our fun! Making posters to put up around the school. We had a little competition for which of my classes could raise the most money. I stayed WAY too late after school one day making this bulletin board. Spanish and English versions of the TFK articles are available here:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Where the magic happens.

Stories from my brain. Tales of a misplaced Marylander/Chicagoan from the halls of 5th grade Houston, TX and beyond. Monday, September 27, 2010. Are you a Christian? ORdo you celebrate Halloween? I was really excited about fall last night, so I bought a pumpkin for my classroom. Little did I know how much trouble that thing would cause me. 7:45 am: the rest of the kids march upstairs and start getting things from their lockers. All of them start commenting on the pumpkin. "Miss! You got a pumpkin?

Stories from my brain. Tales of a misplaced Marylander/Chicagoan from the halls of 5th grade Houston, TX and beyond. Saturday, March 6, 2010. It All Depends On How You Look At It. It All Depends on How You Look At It. Terezín is full on beauty. It's in your eyes now clear. And through the street the tramp. Of many marching feet I hear. In the ghetto at Terezín,. It looks that way to me,. Is a square kilometer of earth. Cut off from the world that's free. Death, after all, claims everyone,.

Stories from my brain. Tales of a misplaced Marylander/Chicagoan from the halls of 5th grade Houston, TX and beyond. Sunday, November 8, 2009. It's been a while, I've seen a lot more of Texas life, and enjoyed most of it immensely. Here are a few Texas tidbits for my anxious readers. And I said, "Yes, but a small one, not big enough to win against the Nazis." And then one kid randomly calls out, "Yeah, but they couldn't beat TEXAS.". On a lighter note, I like Lonestar beer now. Who would have guessed.

Bullying is a group of people who tease kids. They give weggies, they take their lunch. They hurt them and make them cry. And one more thing, bullying is mean.". Think of the person you are insulting as a piece of paper. As you say something mean to them they start crumpling up into a ball.". Bullying is a bad thing to do. Bul...

Stories from my brain. Tales of a misplaced Marylander/Chicagoan from the halls of 5th grade Houston, TX and beyond. Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Some delightful moments from today! This morning I was about to hand out some papers that gave the kids an offer for free 6-Flags tickets for reading a certain amount and this is what happened:. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. A Long Overdue Review. Let's not talk about how long it's been, hmm? I know I've been away for far too long, but I'll probably have long breaks in the future, too. I finally (finally! Got around to reviewing a hugely popular book series: 50 Shades of Grey. I read it a couple years ago, but never got around to sharing my thoughts. With all the hullabaloo surrounding the upcoming movie, I decided to share my feelings. So here it is! 50 Shades of Grey: to Read or Not to Read? The n...

Develop an appetite for healthy living. June 12, 2015. I like having a little guidance. I normally steer clear. So you probably want the recipe now, right? Firstly, this smoothie needs to be COLD. So you’ve got to use frozen mango and ideally frozen banana (but if just one is frozen, then you are good to go). 1 handful of frozen mango. 1 cup coconut water. 1 cup almond milk. 1 large spoonful of cashew butter. 1 spoonful (or several of if you like bitter like me) of cacao nibs sprinkled on top. Soon but t...
