The Knitting Cyclist

Saturday, 1 November 2014. When you travel to Rhinebeck you must enjoy the sites of New York. I never tire of the beautiful architecture! This was as amazing. Weather not as good as two years ago - but the queues at Miss Babs and Dragonfly yearns were amazing! You can see is rather overcast! But the goats enjoyed it! And I found lots of monomania friends! I just love the glass buttons from Moving Mud. Monday, 1 September 2014. The first picture is near the University of British Columbia and the yarn shop.

The Knitting Cyclist: June 2012

http://www.theknittingcyclist.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 26 June 2012. Ravi - progress with Malabrigo DK. I thought I should update the amendments I have made to by ravi. I cast on 33 sts. 15 cm In order to make the wedge I placed the short row shaping after the icord. With 33 sts there are 15 sts lace and 18 garter of which 3 are icord so I have 15 sts left in which to put my short rows. This is what I have done for Wedge 1. Short row shaping row 1 after 2 sts (so 13 knit). Short row shaping row 2 after 5 sts (so 10 knit). Wedge 5 40 sts 15 lace plus...

My Handmades: March 2015

http://bespokeknits.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, 12 March 2015. Another design from Amy Christoffer and the first time to use my latest purchases from the New York trip. I knitted this popular cardi in no time at all - less then two weeks, just flew off the needles. A good way to destash some dk or worsted yarn with a good stitch definition. The cabled pattern is bold enough to sustain the variegated yarn. Tosh sock holy festival. Back to my Acer, here is a close up of that beautiful yarn spotting. Links to this post. My Handmades: November 2014

http://bespokeknits.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, 15 November 2014. The 2nd travel project I took to New York was the Marin. Close up of cable in shape of 'X'. Close up of cable that helps create an edge curve. Short rows that make the extra fabric that curves around the shoulders. The yarn is Cashmere lace from Hedgehog fibres which is held double knitted in 3.5mm circulars. Totally recommend the pattern- it was a joy to knit. Links to this post. Hedgehog fibres cashmere lace. Saturday, 1 November 2014. The New York Crow Watlz! I think the li...

Sunday, 28 September 2014. Endearment and a Donkey! My Endearment is complete and here is the proof :-). I was trying to persuade this beautiful mare to tilt her head to the camera but she stubbornly insisted of showing us ,ahem. her ass. Where I live there are ever growing in numbers herds of well behaved donkeys. This late September there are few new adorable foals which will have to grow fast to survive the winter's cold. My Handmades: July 2015

http://bespokeknits.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 28 July 2015. My latest cardigan- TAU. An asymmetrical front, knitted from the top down with raglan sleeve shaping, a basket weave pattern textures the front panel and sleeve cuffs. There is a large positive ease so I chose the extra small size at first, knitted down to almost sleeves separation and then noticed the neck line, much tighter and rounder than the other sizes and not at all flattering. Here it is before I frogged it all-. Very pleased with the outcome- quite elegant I think. Couple ...

Saturday, 25 October 2014. New York and Rhinebeck 2014! Here are few snapshots of my trip to Rhinebeck and New York;. Here is Caroline with her stunning monomania. We happen to see quite a few of those. This is one of my favourite photos of the trip. We were so tired once we reached the hotel we didn't even meet for our customary show and tell. This trip was such an indulgence for me. No kids and husband tugging along, lots of yarn fumes, girlie laughs and chats, long walks, nice food and shopping ga...

My Handmades: December 2014

http://bespokeknits.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, 20 December 2014. This is a shaken or stirred. By Tea Colman. An attractive top down, shawl collared cardigan with some colour work and nice details. I always coveted the luxurious madelintosh pashmina but I'm afraid it was the wrong yarn for this project. I should have picked something a bit more bouncy and less drape-y. Here is a close up of the shoulder shaping and stitch detail- lovely . Links to this post. Walk collection. shaken and stirred. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

My Handmades: Funky grandpa in Crete

http://bespokeknits.blogspot.com/2015/04/funky-grandpa-in-crete.html

Thursday, 16 April 2015. Funky grandpa in Crete. 65279;. I packed my newly finished Grandpa by the lovely Rililie. Which was light enough to wear the last sunny day of our holiday. Not for the first time I stole/copied/inspired by the version of my dear friend the cycling-knitter. Beautiful little details. Oh and the icord bind off of the cuffs, nice short rows on the button band and double the yarn on the bottom Rib. It really is a funky fun knit! Kettle yarn co Beyul. Uncommon thread tough sock.

My Handmades: July 2014

http://bespokeknits.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, 5 July 2014. I was just on Ravelry. To catalogue my overdue BlueSand and noticed there are currently 554 projects logged- this is one popular buttonless cardigan by the designer La Maison Rililie which fast becoming one of my favourites. Have a look at her other designs and her blog. I loved knitting it , there is a lot of mindless stockinette with the anticipation of color change. Beautiful little details such as those almost hidden pocket background stripes,. Links to this post.

My Handmades: May 2015

http://bespokeknits.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Monday, 11 May 2015. Here is Toasty, all done and dusted! The fronts and back are knitted separately, while the sleeves are seamlessly knitted from armhole. It has been a challenging design for me and now I'm allowing myself to feel smugness about this. It is still not perfect and it needs to be recalculated to a heavier yarn with less seams but for now it will suffice. So here you have it- with my Toasty on a chilly spring day . Links to this post. Knit like no one is watching. Thursday, April 9, 2015. April's off to a good start. I really enjoyed the San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild meeting this week where the theme was “Vintage Knitting”. I especially appreciated the work that went into preparing bags for the guild charity knitting. My two sons are helping knit scarves for a local woman’s shelter. The little scarf kits were lovingly prepared by the guild so it was very easy to start the project. In the Lapis colorway. I've ordered Mabel Ross'...

The Knitting Den

Saturday, February 18, 2012. I've mentioned before that I've never really had much of a stash when it comes to my yarn. I usually like to buy the yarn once I know what I want to knit. But the reason for that has usually been that Hobby Lobby and Michael's just don't have the kind of yarn I (or anyone for that matter) would want to stash! But it is nice to just pick up a skein or two now and then - and have a project in mind for it. I blame those (wonderful) podcasters for 'enabling' me - Diane. Here it i...
