The Knitting Dude

Sunday, March 30, 2014. I recently discovered a group called "Socks for Soldiers". They have been around for 8 years now and pride themselves on the hand-knit socks that they make which are then shipped in care packages to deployed soldiers. I think it's an awesome idea. Especially since I am a veteran myself. The yarn that is used is a specific type of yarn and the pattern and color both comply with military standards. Here's a picture of my progress so far. The Knitting Dude: My first attempt with stranded colorwork

http://theknittingdude.blogspot.com/2011/01/my-first-attempt-with-stranded.html

Thursday, January 6, 2011. My first attempt with stranded colorwork. I wasn't going to attempt anything related to colorwork until after we decided on the first project to do as a group. But, I just couldn't resist. Well, that, and I'm one impatient dude! I found a pretty simple patten on Ravelry that looks more complicated than it is. Here is a picture of my progress so far. The Knitting Dude: January 2012

Sunday, January 8, 2012. These socks were supposed to be a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law last year, but I didn't get a chance to get them to her. They became this year's Christmas gift. She loves them! The yarn was great to work with. It was Cascade Heritage yarn. I didn't have any problems whatsoever with it. These were also an awesome learning experience dealing with cabling without a cable needle. Granted, these weren't large or complex cables, but it was good practice nonetheless. While posting...

Thursday, December 9, 2010. Wow, that was quick! It looks like this is going to be a bigger experience than I initially anticipated. But, I'm excited about that. The more the merrier! Of course, as this thing progresses, there will be pictures to post, updates on progress and just random sharing of whatever comes to mind. Time to get some sleep now. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Thursday, November 3, 2011. My progress thus far. I give you Baby Blanket Latvian Garden. It's a pattern I found on Ravelry. It's my first attempt doing something of this scale and difficulty level. Not bad huh? Talking to myself helps motivate me sometimes. Here's my progress on the scarf. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My first attempt with stranded colorwork. While posting in and perusing the Sock Knitters Anonymous group that Ive been participating in, one of the members mentioned that she w.

The Knitting Dude: November 2010

http://theknittingdude.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Sock it to yo mama (in law). I have to say, I am pretty pleased and impressed with my results so far. It's got a basic one over one cable that goes all along the front of the sock, pretty much down to the toe. I don't have a picture of it yet, but I have just finished turning the heel. Here's the most recent picture, which was shortly before I started on the heel. Not bad for a beginner, huh? A pair of socks. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My first attempt with stranded colorwork.

~The Knitting Doula~

Sunday, June 10, 2007. When reading early morning blog posts and then devoting the entire day to what you just read, one should always note the date of the posts. Well, and also in honor of the fact that I visited with Sabbath. If I didn't check in with The Harlot. First thing, how would I ever have known? Upon arrival in Canada. Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Knitting Resolution: Cleaning Out the Project Stash. As those who knit with me may know, I don't have a traditional knitter's stash of yarns. Don't get me wrong - I have more than a skein or two around the house. It's not so much that I don't. Have a yarn stash - instead, I have a very impressive stash of another kind: a project stash. Unfortunately, my weekly trips to the LYS. Result in plenty of projects getting started. One might even say too many. Without any further ado.
