The Leader's Way: Empowering Front Line People
http://theleadersway.blogspot.com/2008/10/empowering-front-line-people.html
Monday, October 27, 2008. Empowering Front Line People. We just choose not to listen. We have several well established ways of not listening:. We make them feel stupid. We tell them what to do and don't ask them for input. We supply them with data from our big computer systems that support our theories but not necessarily what is reality on the ground. We ignore, demote or fire people who argue or "do not fit" with management. By doing so we make sure others stay quiet. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Leader's Way: March 2009
http://theleadersway.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 9, 2009. I recently had a great question in a Leadership Challenge Workshop. The question was about tears. The leader wanted to know if I thought it was okay that some of his direct reports cried in the workplace and what I thought he should do about it. Well, I was not quite ready for this one. We had a great discussion and came up with this:. So the key is to let the tears flow and the learning and leadership will follow. Just don't leave home without your travel pack of tissues.

The Leader's Way
http://theleadersway.blogspot.com/2008/12/i-have-been-thinking-about-giving.html
Wednesday, December 10, 2008. I have been thinking about giving advice. No, not about giving some but about the need to give advice. I, like most people, love to give advice. And yet so often I realize that I would be doing a much better service if I kept my advice to myself. This is not a new concept for me - just one I keep forgetting and relearning. Do you have any of those? How can I help? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Check out these sites. Managing with Carrots, Gostick and Elton. I have been...
