MISSION: THAILAND: September 2009

So much to tell. 19 days in we find ourselves learning a new language, shopping for a home, taking a class on the book of Romans, re-launching the Continuum Magazine, mentoring a couple of bible college students, doing outreach ministry, and, oh ya.helping Baylee and Julia in their schoolwork too! All this to say that we are busy! The Thai alphabet consists of 44 consonants, 26 vowels, tone marks as well as 5 tones. PLUS, it isn't regular letters, its characters; almost like hieroglyphics! We are followi...

God cannot change but our assignments can. We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed our "girl" time but it still could have been better had Dean been with us. Dean returned to Thailand at the beginning of July with a few tag-a-longs, his mom and dad and Brittney came back with him to spend two months with us! And of course, nothing is ever complete until you have had a snack and a balloon animal. The woman who is now the Lord's just wept and hugged me tightly after. When we first went into the clinic s...

It has been a busy few months since our last update. Busy, but very good. Our time in Hua Hin was also spent evangelizing to hundreds of people at a local Shopping Mall. We were given the full stage for 2 to 3 hours each night and the Bible College students performed flawlessly. There were dramas and singing and some comedy and a wonderful message about Christ's redeeming love preached by Joseph, one of our students form India. It was Holy Spirit inspired; just awesome! Together Dean and I are working on...

The Start at the End. Our time in Canada draws to a close. Only eight days left and then we are headed on a plane back home to Thailand. But really, it is another beggining for us, as only seven days after we land in Bangkok we will be boarding yet another plane headed to Rwanda, Africa. Odetta's falling down, leaky house. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. Fulgence's school year at VBCI...

So This is Songkran. It has been a month full of Culture to say the least. April is, from what we have been told, by far the hottest month of the year. So how do the Thai's handle it? Well let me tell you! They take an age old tradition that started as a honouring ceremony whereby they. Empty oil barrels filled with shaved ice and water. If they are going to douse you, its gotta be chilly or whats the point! The main Songkran festival travels across the country slowly with each city and town picking its ...

In serving these children, we in turn serve their entire family. We see buddhist parents turning to Christ because their own children are sharing the hope and love that they themselves have learned about from our centre! 98% of our children being raised by single moms, the number of children unlikely to see the inside of a classroom, without some kind of assistance, grows exponentially. The cost listed is for an entire school year and includes all fees, uniforms (all Thai schools have uniforms), supplies...
