Sleeping Dog Bakery: November 2009
http://sleepingdogbakery.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 18, 2009. I finally managed to find some time for the last canning session(s) of the year. My friend Janice had purchased some mountain apples for me, and I turned them into applesauce and apple/rosemary jelly. For the applesauce, I used a saucer attachment to my mom's old Electrolux mixer. That mixer is probably close to 38 years old and it still works great. I mix most of my bread in that mixer. Recipe for apple/rosemary jelly. On Pioneer Woman's recipe site, called. After I cleaned...

Sleeping Dog Bakery: Delicious Tomato Pesto Pie
http://sleepingdogbakery.blogspot.com/2010/08/delicious-tomato-pesto-pie.html
Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Delicious Tomato Pesto Pie. Our tomatoes are just starting to come in. We had some end-rot early on, but now that seems to have gone away. It has been one hot summer, and I think we were a little inconsistent with the watering. Lately I've been feeding the tomatoes and up until now we have been watering twice a day. All you need are ingredients to make a simple crust (flour, butter, baking powder, milk and salt), parmesan cheese (which you can put in the crust as well! This loo...

Monday, September 14, 2009. My awesome friend Janice graciously volunteered to help me with cooking and canning the strawberry jam that we're going to use for favors at the wedding. Thus Jamfest '09 was born. We had two batches going at any time, and once we had done two batches we got down to it; Janice decided on an improvised assembly line and off we went and canned 84 6oz jars of strawberry jam. Final pictures will be posted once I have the fabulous labels (ordered via. Ms Pickles Press on Etsy.

Sleeping Dog Bakery: February 2010

Monday, February 15, 2010. Markers for our garden. I've been going back and forth about markers for our garden this year. But finally I had to give in. If you saw my list a few posts ago, there is no way I will remember where all those veggies and herbs went! I do draw things out in a notebook, but I don't want to always bring that with me out to the garden. Sean then used a woodburning tool to burn in the names of some of the vegetables for our garden. I think it looks great. Not sure how they w...Back ...

Sleeping Dog Bakery: March 2010

Monday, March 29, 2010. Tomato Plant Restraint. I have none. Tonight I started transplanting my tomato seedlings. Way overdue. They were growing into the growlights.oups. I thought I was showing some real restraint this year by only doing 4 or 5 plantings of each type of tomato: Costoluto Genovese, Hungarian Italian Paste, Yellow Pear Cherry, Riesentraube Cherry and German Pink. Basic math: 5 varieties of tomato plants X 10 plants = 50 tomato plants. Hungarian Italian Paste Tomato. Hoping everyone's gard...

Sleeping Dog Bakery: Making felted soap
http://sleepingdogbakery.blogspot.com/2010/08/making-felted-soap.html
Thursday, August 26, 2010. My aunt Britt-Marie lives in Sweden and since a few years back she owns and operates a certified organic sheep farm together with her partner Unto. What I love about this farm, apart f. Rom the organic side, is that she takes care of everything from her sheep (meat, pelts, wool) and she practices what I can only refer to as "good. To graze, as well as the areas where she grows her feed. With the materials her sheep provide. Her sheep are all. They live so far away! This was not ...

Saturday, January 8, 2011. 2 Xanax is Awesome! I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Sometimes I feel like I AM PTSD, like it is my entire identity. Those are the times when the PTSD takes over my life and leaves very little room for anything else. That is where I am this week. Helicopters are a huge trigger of my PTSD. The sight of a helicopter, in the air, or on the ground, is enough to send me into little shivers of anxiety. My face tingles, my ears ring, I get tunnel vision. Xanax is awesome&...
