Who are our volunteers? We have a small core team of staff yet we are able to offer a valuable and effective befriending service to older people due to the commitment and efforts of our increasing and dedicated team of excellent volunteers, without whom we would cease to function. We are very fortunate to have volunteers of all ages. Who give from about an hour to a couple of hours a week. They come from all walks of life, different professions and areas and all are, without question, exceptional.

Who Can Be a Client? Anyone who is over 65 who is lonely or isolated and lives in Bucksburn, Stoneywood, Dyce, Bridge of Don or Kingswells can be referred for a befriender. A person can refer themselves or be referred by a relative, friend, neighbour or by a professional eg doctor, nurse, care manager. Referring is simple - you can phone us on 01224 712808 and we will complete a referral form over the phone. Alternatively we can send you a referral form by post or email. THE LIVING WELL PROJECT.

THE LIVING WELL PROJECT. The Living Well Project was set up in 2010, with the aim of supporting isolated and vulnerable people in the community of North East Aberdeen. The Project has two services - a Befriending Service where volunteers are matched on a one-to-one basis, with an older person, and the Living Well Café which provides social support for those affected by memory loss and dementia, their families and carers.

THE LIVING WELL PROJECT. Befriending is a supported friendship between two people: a trained Volunteer and a Friend (Befriendee). Befriending is offered to alleviate feelings of isolation (social or geographic) and loneliness resulting from a lack of opportunity to meet people for social contact, to make friends, or have someone to talk to for whatever reason.
