fork/knife: I ♥ the Decemberists
http://forkknifeblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/i-decemberists.html
Wednesday, August 26, 2009. I ♥ the Decemberists. Below is a video of the Decemberists covering "Crazy on You" by Heart a few months ago, featuring Shara Worden and Becky Stark on vocals. To say that Shara killed it on vocals would be an understatement, she was god-like. PS Fellow blogger Chandler. Found this and was kind enough to inform me! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). fork/knife: Birds Mimicking Birds
http://forkknifeblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/birds-mimicking-birds.html
Tuesday, August 25, 2009. A while back I ran across this band, Mimicking Birds. And was immediately hooked. It's nothing groundbreaking, just the home recordings of a man by the name of Nate Lacy. Hailing from Portland Lacy attracted the attention of another local band that has gotten a little bit more attention, Modest Mouse. Isaac Brock and his band mates even brought Mr. Lacy out on tour, having him open for the band. Mimicking Birds - Home and Somewhere Else. Modest Mouse - The World At Large. Forgot...

http://forkknifeblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/mix-goodbye-summer.html
Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Here's a short and sweet mix to mark the end of what has been a great summer. Goodbye humid weather, hello.schoolwork. I'm headed back to Minnesota on Saturday for another year of midwestern education - along with months of bone-chilling, teeth-rattling, snot-freezing cold. You won't hear from me until I'm settled in - until then, enjoy! Haikuesque (When She Laughs) - Bibio. Eat Street - People Under the Stairs. In The Summertime - The Rural Alberta Advantage.

The Mountain Tempo: Dawes. Say no more.
http://themountaintempo.blogspot.com/2009/02/dawes-say-no-more.html
Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Dawes Say no more. This specific post turned out to be harder than I thought.and thus, actually easier. It all started when a group of friends and I went to see Delta Spirit. At the Hi-Dive in Denver last week. There I am, next door living the high life, this time with a Budweiser in hand. Whitney (we'll get to her later) pulls herself away from the opening act, grabs me and makes me listen to the opening band that is rocking her face off. Dawes. Dawes - When My time Comes.

The Mountain Tempo: Old Crow debuts a new video
http://themountaintempo.blogspot.com/2009/04/old-crow-debuts-new-video.html
Monday, April 20, 2009. Old Crow debuts a new video. I'd hesitate to call Old Crow Medicine Show. A country band. Screw it, I wouldn't. But, last time I called something on this blog with a tinge of "newgrass" or non-traditional sounds accompanying traditional bluegrass as actual "bluegrass," I got an earful. Anywhoo.maybe Old Crow are scream-o hard rock since they use amps and hollar a lot on stage. Nope, they're not coming to Colorado either. FML. Labels: Old Crow Medicine Show. The Mountain Tempo: Pertinent songs for pertinent times: Grey Room
http://themountaintempo.blogspot.com/2009/04/pertinent-songs-for-pertinent-times.html
Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Pertinent songs for pertinent times:. A random post is what you get for random times. A pertinent song for pertinent situations. A rather somber and gray song for a sunny Colorado day and happy camper. Grey Room" by Damien Rice. This song is about writing songs that are always down and it was ironic because I found myself in that moment where I was down and I was down about the fact that i was writing songs that are down so I wrote another down song. Damien Rice - Grey Room.
