Wednesday, September 26, 2007. Last paper by Steve Irwin! Just published about an hour ago (if it was in hardcopy, it would still be hot off the presses). And it is a wonderful paper! Australian crocs can and will travel much longer distances than was previously thought and their homing instinct is strong and navigational capacity excellent, even in a case where a large obstacle (Cape York Peninsula) needed to be navigated around. Can you imagine anyone doing this work without Steve Irwin? I Also Post At.

http://sciencepolitics.blogspot.com/2007/09/rethinking-foxp2.html
Thursday, September 20, 2007. Earlier studies have indicated that a gene called FOXP2, possibly involved in brain development, is extremely conserved in vertebrates, except for two notable mutations in humans. This finding suggested that this gene may in some way be involved in the evolution of language, and was thus dubbed by the popular press "the language gene". See, for instance, this. This week, a new study. Shows that this gene is highly diverse in one group of mammals - the bats:. Jonah Lehrer not...

The Opinionated Homeschooler: April 2006
http://opinionatedhomeschooler.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 22, 2006. Depressed this morning to see that Fr. Al Kimel. Has bought into the idea that the word "Easter" is a horrible pagan holdover that ought to be junked. As fans of Alexander Hislop, Jack Chick, and the endlessly churned-out empire of fake history know, the word. Is proof that the holiday is actually worship of the fertility goddess Eostra/Austron, who is one and the same as Astarte, and before her, Ishtar, and. The second thing I found is that there is no second thing. That on...

http://sciencepolitics.blogspot.com/2005/05/why-have-book-if-you-never-read-it.html
Wednesday, May 18, 2005. Why have a book if you never read it? About 92 percent of American own at least one copy of the Bible. The average household has 3 copies. About 67 percent of Americans say that the Bible holds the answers to the basic questions of life. The Bible is the world's all-time best seller. At least 20 million copies are sold each year. Gideon International annually distributes more than 45 million copies. Biblical knowledge (Biblical illiteracy is rampant):. Can we step in and provide ...
