The Monthly Williamite: Jacob natus est

http://themonthlywilliamite.blogspot.com/2006/06/jacob-natus-est.html

Wednesday, June 14, 2006. Jacob Hayes was born at six thirty in the morning on Thursday 8th June in a bath of a hos. Pital in a little town called Poggibonsi, which is near Siena. I thick that even someone who doesn’t know anything about him or his family can safely say that he is a pretty lovely baby, I mean come on, be honest! But, anyway I think that he one of the sweetest little things I have ever seen and I hope that his other uncles and aunt (who have not seen him yet) will think the same.

The Monthly Williamite: October 2006

http://themonthlywilliamite.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 15, 2006. A life of Leonardo da Vinci. Sadly, Leonardo had many interests and if he suddenly discovered something that he thought was more interesting than the thing he was working on at the time he would leave it. In this way, many of Leonardo’s works were left unfinished. In 1499 the French army invaded Milan and deposed the Duke Ludovico Sforza so that Leonardo had to leave. Posted by William @ 5:18 pm. Ed is in Chicago: June 2005

http://edblogsafghanistan.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html

Ed is in Chicago. What am I doing in Chicago? Monday, June 20, 2005. Ahh, the final days of my honeymoon are drawing to a close, and Afghanistan is beginning to call to me once more. I am very excited to be going back - strange to tell. I am sitting in an internet cafe from the genteel atlantic resort town of Biarritz, where I have been celebrating the marriage of our university friend of the 'teeny-tiny feet' (i am not the first to employ the epithet). Ed is in Chicago. What am I doing in Chicago? Friday, October 13, 2006. Bolt from the heavens. The blog has been under posted recently, as our modem was struck by lightening last week in a great Midwestern thunderstorm of epic proportions. It looked like some overenthusiastic gothic horror filmmaker had designed a film with God as producer. But after hours on the automated phoneline (I'm sorry. I didn't hear that. Ed is in Chicago: More Mexican stuff

http://edblogsafghanistan.blogspot.com/2006/12/more-mexican-stuff.html

Ed is in Chicago. What am I doing in Chicago? Friday, December 08, 2006. I have been trying to publish these photos, off and on for about a month. It's all stuff from the Museum of Mexican Fine Arts. Not every piece there is great art but it is very lively and varied. The range of media worked in is almost endless. See Flora in front of a piece made entirely from? Made entirely from beads. Reminds me of a comic strip in Viz. What's his name, anyone? Posted by Ed @ 9:10 pm. Adam - of course you would know.

Ed is in Chicago: Blue bike rock

http://edblogsafghanistan.blogspot.com/2006/10/blue-bike-rock.html

Ed is in Chicago. What am I doing in Chicago? Friday, October 27, 2006. We got the bike from a collective which exports good bikes to poor places and sells poor bikes to Chicagoans to fund it. This ol' baby set us back $50. (The bike). It's getting a bit chilly now for fun cycling, and the wind tends to alter its direction in order to give me extra exercise. But it means that Flora can get between her son and the library in quick time and I can jaunt off to my Henry IV rehearsals. Posted by Ed @ 1:44 am.

Ed is in Chicago. What am I doing in Chicago? Sunday, November 26, 2006. If all the seas were ink. God said If all the trees in the world were pens, and the sea supplied [ink], with seven further seas after it, the words of God would not be exhausted. Quran, 31.27. Did this Quranic verse inspire the following anonymous doggerel? If all the world were paper and all the seas were ink, if all the trees were bread and cheese, what would we have to drink? Ed is in Chicago. What am I doing in Chicago? Wednesday, March 23, 2005. I got a couple of photos of people on horses with my spy camera. Afghans pretty much always look good in photos - it is a photographer’s dream this country. Clockwise from top left: buzkashi horseman, spectators, milling around after the game, buzkashi horseman at rest. Or ‘Do you understand such and such? Or ‘Can you tell me the names of so and so’, and the boy would bellow in his hoarse voice ‘I know! Can you see God's name? So yo...

I have finished my job for the summer, and Flora and I headed straight to the beach to stay at a holiday home provided to us by super-generous parents of Flora’s Uni chum. 在北京的点滴~~

Saturday, November 26, 2011.
