A LIFE OF APPLES: November 2010
http://appleharvester.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
A LIFE OF APPLES. Seasons in the Orchard. Sunday, November 14. My long two-pointed ladder's sticking through a tree. Toward heaven still,. And there's a barrel that I didn't fill. Beside it, and there may be two or three. Apples I didn't pick upon some bough. But I am done with apple-picking now. Essence of winter sleep is on the night,. The scent of apples: I am drowsing off. I cannot rub the strangeness from my sight. I got from looking through a pane of glass. And held against the world of hoary grass.

http://appleharvester.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
A LIFE OF APPLES. Seasons in the Orchard. Wednesday, September 29. Apple Picking Day 22: Hard-working Hands. After a day of picking Cortlands. Wounds that won't seem to heal. Tomorrow I expect a reprieve from picking as we are expecting more rain. Instead I will spend the day under a roof helping press cider. I hope with a day of rest my wrist will be ready to face the trees when the sun shines again. Waiting to pick the Empires in Lansing. Cortland in the early morning. Monday, September 20. The rows of...

...J&J's Excellent Adventure: August 2015
http://jj-adventure.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 30, 2015. July, in a nutshell, was awesome. It was great to show the tile who is boss yo. Alright - here is all of July in one massive post of photos and terse descriptions. It started with a visit from Jay's sister, Allison (Lee). It was a short but very sweet visit with enough time to play outside, eat well, and discuss a bright future for Lee as she just finished her N.P. degree and is ready to begin to practice! Lee in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands. What a great spot for lunch!

A LIFE OF APPLES. Seasons in the Orchard. Friday, March 11. Today is Johnny Appleseed day! An icon of American folklore, Johnny Appleseed, born John Chapman, played an integral role in the establishment of frontier communities, but also in the evolution of the apple in the New World. To understand Johnny Appleseed, it is first important to have a basic understanding of the genetics of an apple. From "The Writer's Almanac". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Foraging for Mushrooms | Vermont Living
https://returntovermont.wordpress.com/2013/09/16/foraging-for-mushrooms
September 2013 →. September 16, 2013 · 11:53 am. My curiosity about mushrooms began last May when our friend Steven brought in a Morel he had found in our front property. We chopped up that lone mushroom and sprinkled it through the large omelet we all shared. We found the flavor delicate, though somewhat scarce. Harvesting morels in Bonnie and Lou’s back yard. They grow under dead apple trees and elms. When the Grafton Nature Museum advertised a mushroom workshop in August, I was ready to go! I found th...

Along Slap Out Gully: September 2014
http://galvbay.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Along Slap Out Gully. Sometimes fresh or salty but mostly brackish wanderings. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Grackles found my feeder this week. I know they are common. And often considered a nuisance, but they sure are pretty. Thursday, September 25, 2014. I think this hummingbird called me a 'poopy head'. The hummingbird landed on a branch near me. It took a closer look at me. Then it released its opinion of me. Wednesday, September 24, 2014. I guess they know what they're doing. Nooner at the pond.
