ms. modiste: Happy New Year :-D
http://msmodiste.blogspot.com/2013/01/happy-new-year-d.html
Saturday, January 12, 2013. Happy New Year :-D. Hey friends. It's a gorgeous Saturday morning and I feel compelled to swing by here, dust off a few cobwebs and let you know I'm alive and well. Happy new year! And none of the follow-through) I decided to go with words. Two words, actually (well, three, if you're being persnickity): efficiency and problem-solving. So far, it's working out pretty awesome and the Mister is totally on board. We've tackled a bunch of sources of day-to-day stress and focuse...

ms. modiste: December 2011
http://msmodiste.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 29, 2011. Wouldn't you know it. I forgot my own blogiversary! I can't believe a whole year has passed! I'm not going to do a Year In Review or anything, because hey, the gallery. Provides a pretty concise summary. But I do want to examine my original list of intentions, and see how I measure up and where I want to go in the future. I wrote my goals in a post titled The Plan. To make a long story short, I actually succeeded on all counts except:. Ten weeks per dress), relevant. I'm so f...

Sunday, January 20, 2013. I have a few things on the sewing table, but for the moment I'm just going to share this one:. It's a beginner's quilt - super simple. I waffled on the fabric choice because chevrons are beyond trendy right now - until I remembered that it's just as silly to avoid something because it's trendy as it is to do it only because it is. Hopefully this little quilt will last long after the world has forgotten that Pinterest told us all that we Must. Love. Chevrons. I used Cascade 220 i...

ms. modiste: Thinkin' Thoughts
http://msmodiste.blogspot.com/2012/10/thinkin-thoughts_4.html
Thursday, October 4, 2012. So, something miraculous happened. I took the photos for my Renfrew post this past Thursday morning. Then, I walked out the door and wore it to work. Yes, it is both sad and hyperbolic to call that a "miracle.". But that experience of so effortlessly wearing something I’ve made has led me to do some thinking about why I sew, why I choose the patterns I do, and the clothes I wear versus the clothes I want to wear. I’m starting to debate the extent to which this is true. If I wan...

Monday, May 21, 2012. I think I mentioned wanting to do more in-progress posts a while ago, but I've clearly failed! To remedy that, here's what I'm working on:. Anyway, thankfully the thing zips up fine, although I will admit that it probably is a smidge snug. When I finally sew it in for good I think I'm going to use 3/8" seam allowances instead of 5/8", just for some breathing room. OMG, how to deal with this? Will that result in a triangle-shape at the bottom or will it all even out once worn? Team t...

Monday, May 6, 2013. Not sure where this one is going to end up. It's ridiculously simple, but I kind of love it. That being said, how many quilts does one little family need? I made this to prepare for teaching a quilting class recently (the same class I made the previous chevron quilt for - hey, I like to be prepared! So with no particular purpose in mind for the end result. I'm thinking of donating it to the children's hospital. We shall see. In the meantime, Hobbes likes it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://msmodiste.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 26, 2013. Probably a bit of both, I suppose. Here's hoping I'll have something to show for it soon, because let me tell you, I am SICK of shopping. Sick of it! I must just be very bad at it because I don't get it. Ugh. Anyway, coming up: lots of dresses (hopefully - I've realized how much happier I am in dresses as opposed to pants) and some self-drafted basics. If I can dig my camera out from the mess we made while moving. (Oh yeah, we moved! I have a sewing room now! Did You Make That?

Sunday, February 26, 2012. Really improved my outlook on sewing and provided a much-needed kick in the pants to dive into the Lonsdale project. As you might have noticed, I've been somewhat dishonestly displaying that sewalong badge on the right panel over there for about six months now. Oops. I'm happy to report that things are going swimmingly. Today I traced off the bodice front pattern piece in order to complete the FBA. I did it pretty much as Tasia described in her sewalong post. I'm absolutely in ...

Saturday, June 9, 2012. So, when life hands you lemons you're supposed to make lemonade. But mostly I just want to pick up a lemon and chuck it right back at life, hitting it square in the kisser. Or, you know, just cry about it. (Let's be honest.) Things aren't so bad, but the past week or two has been. However, I did lose the last three days of my. When can we stop living out of plastic bags? When can I remove all the wool sweaters from my deep freeze? So, I haven't been sewing too much, to say the lea...
